Help please.

I have a butane cylinder and I tried to use regulator that is on carvan to connect it but it seems different, but it does say butane on it, are there different types of attachment?

There is a regulator in Argos, but is is for propane is that different from a butane regulator?

Whats the best way to freshen up and satitise a fresh water container that is a bit fusty smelling? (Or should I get a new one?

How do the electrics in my caravan work? .

Skribble - have no idea about gas, but there's something you can buy to run through your caravan's water system to clean it. I think it's called Puritab or something similar (from caravan/camping/outdoorsy shops). You'll also need to change your water filter on the van every season, as it gets quite bunged up with yukky stuff!
We generally take an empty 5-litre water container with us (just the ones you buy 5 litres of mineral water in at the supermarket), fill it up from the campsite tap and then use that as drinking water. Even though DH has cleaned our water system out, it can still have a bit of a 'taste' to it - and we don't like anything spoiling our morning cuppa!

I know there are different connectors for gas...Uk and european...Camping Gaz etc.

Re electrics... do you gave an electric hook up or is it leisure battery?

Camping shops sell a water sanitsing tabletty doo-dads...but if it is 'just' a big plastic container I'd be lazy and get a new one.

we was told to clean water things pumps system etc milton is grt that was by our local caravan shop
the electrics i dont deal with much the gas bottle we use is a orange one the camp shop can advise best

Peachy · 04/06/2007 20:22

milton is the best stuff, but old water canisters can reek so I would replace it definitely. Big hatred of mine (especiallyn those ones on fridges- yuck)

Definitely check out a camping gas supplier for the gas- pretty sure they're different but not something to mess with

Getting to grips with the electrics after spending ages lying under the caravan and peering in cupboards. The van seems to have completly seperate systems, one light and two sockets run off the mains hook up, the other lights run off the non-existent battery. The fridge can run off either or gas, but plug for mains use must have a blown fuse so I will change that and try again.

The gas bottle I had was too large and the smaller one has the right fitting so I have an empty to exchange, then I can try the cooker and a lovely gas light too.

I think I will get a new water container as it is over 5 yrs old anyway.

Anyway bugger all that I have my nice new curtains up and a pink folding colander . Oh and a couple of nice cushions the kids choose.
