Festivals in very hot weather

We are due to go to Wilderness Festival this wknd and I am really worried after seeing the forecast - around 30 degrees each day!
Does anyone have experience of festivals in those kind of temps? I am worried our tent plus the festival tents will all be ridiculously hot and shade will be hard to come by.

Truthfully I'm not a huge festival fan - my dh loves them and we were lucky enough to get free tickets. But now I'm even more concerned- crowds and extreme heat are 2 of my least favourite things!
Any tips on camping essentials to pack to help with keeping cool?

Cover your tent with one of those huge emergency foil space blankets (shiny side up).
Positioning the door of your tent towards the wind will allow it to blow into your tent (remember not to have the loo’s close-by or be downwind of them!!)
If you have a small tent, try to pitch it next to a larger tent but where the shade will be in the afternoon. (most smartphones come with a compass, just remember the sun rises in the east so as you look west from behind the large tent and that’s your spot!).
Pick up a cheap battery powered hand-held fan.
Use the free water taps in the camp sites to wet towels or t-shirts and wrap them across your shoulders or over your head. This will help bring your body temperature down.
Freeze your drinks before you go and then put them in your cool box. You'll have a supply of cool water for 24 hours.
Invest in a good water bottle (such as a Swell bottle) that keeps water cool for 24 hours.
Eating heavy or spicy food can raise your body temperature and even dehydrate you. Eat little and often.

Ooh yes! We are off to wilderness too - our 4 th year running!

2015 was particularly boiling I seem to think.

We are in a canvas bell so that does help and it will still get cool to vold at night. Plenty of water and relax. Can jump in the lake if you overhear- it will be icy in the water regardless

Think I'd try and go for the shade early morning? You'll be roaming around the festival afternoon and evening? And it gets boiling in tents first thing when you're trying to sleep.

Thank you ricekrispie some brilliant tips there, I will defo put as many as I can into practice.

Ah nice to see a fellow Wilderness goer. It will be nice having the lake there - should help when we need to cool off .

I agree about hot tents in the morning, but I said afternoon shade so that it's no time boiling when you come back to it in the evening!

We camped at a festival last weekend and Thurs and Fri were so hot. Definitely best tip is wet a tea towel totally, wring it out, fold up and wrap round neck, so cooling and lasts for a while. If it's getting warm open up and waft about before re rolling and placing round neck.
