Off to Ikea today to get some bits for our camping kitchen box. Any other useful things I should buy?

I use the hanging toy storage things as wardrobes.

Great idea SellFridges, I might get a couple!

The big blue shopping bags.
We pack our soft stuff in those (including clothes) one for mucky stuff, e.g bringing home muddy wellies / shower flip flops etc)
Bags of cinnamon rolls for breakfasts
Cheap dustpan and brush
Maybe a cheap mat to put in doorway

Ikea bags, mats already on the list, great idea re dustpan and brush and will def get a couple of bags of cinnamon rolls - can't promise that they will be available come camping time though!

I love the Dimpa bags as they zip up and store loads but pack flat.....great if it's raining and easier to pack as stuff doesn't fall out. They are also translucent so you can see what's in them
We are moving house and got a dozen to store bedding and clothes

ArtyFartyQueen · 23/07/2018 08:28

Already got those Pressa hanging things, they're great. Will def get a few dimpa bags, they would be good for blankets, pillows etc!

OMG, why haven’t I got Dimpa bags? They are perfect for our clothes and can be laid flat and unzipped like a suitcase!

MissCherryCakeyBun · 23/07/2018 16:27

Dimpa bags are genius things they fit a whole heavy tog king-size duvet and pillows and you can see what is in them. They are proving so useful for moving house

I know this is probably too late but I find the black (plastic?) cooking tools, that are seriously cheap (like €2 for a set of 5) are good for camping, non stick, but useful and do the job well enough. I have a set and a few single pieces - whisk, spatula, spoon, slotted spoon, tongs, ladle etc.

Washing up brushes

Dustpan and brush

A mat to put inside the door and stop mud getting into the rest of the tent.

The SAMLA storage boxes and lids are handy - not THE strongest on the market, but I have
a 22l box with an insert (like a carry tray that takes up half the depth) that holds all my kitchen utensils and washing up stuff, and various other bits;
a 45l box which holds my cooking stuff, crockery, spare tent pegs etc;
and lids for both.

(I also have 2 of the 45l boxes and a 65l box all with lids that I use for my Cub Scout pack's gear - most of the kitchen stuff, various games and things to keep them occupied, a small blackboard to write up patrol chores etc). And they have survived 3 camping trips with my boisterous Cubs! (I often take 1 of these with me on personal trips too, as they stack into each other when empty and can be handy as a spare bucket/basin etc).

The biggest size of the box of freezer/food bags - (4.5l and 6l sized). They are not only very handy for large meals and marinating etc, but you can pack a day's clothes into a bag (and set them up for each day at home - great to just grab a bag to add to your drawstring bag with towel and toiletries to go to the shower block in the mornings), or all the socks in 1, all the knickers in another - to keep things dry and organized in chaotic bags in the tent.

Thanks so much everyone! Biddypop, I pretty much got everything on your list 😁 Were going camping so much over the summer holidays that I thought I’d make up our own kitchen box to save me having to pack up my own kitchen everytime we go camping! Now just need to work out how to fit it all in the car....😆
