brb - just going to feed my mum and dad's cat!

PeachyChocolateEClair · 19/05/2007 16:27

Yep, but Dh working bank hol so we're off Monday - friday instead- works out much cheaper funnily enough LOL!

The carpet is fab but I admit to ponciness! It is nie in the mornings though comapred to stepping onto a cold groundsheet, especially as we started in April this year and are going through to September.

PeachyChocolateEClair · 19/05/2007 16:28

You wait magnpoila- couple of years and you'll be ahrdened camping types like Luce and I!

we're so bad that DS3's first proper words (he is asd) were campy camp camp LOL

magnolia1 · 19/05/2007 16:33

lol, I like the idea of carpet, might take a small roll to lay out for when I get out of bed

actually do take something to put on the floors of the bedroom areas- it makes formuch better heat insulation and that matters in a tent. In the bed areas we use old fleece blankewts, but well worth putting something on the floor, especially under airbeds/ cots etc-makes a much bigger difference than you'd think. And with the pop up cot, out a layer under and also a layer under the sheet too, then amke as per normal.

dustystar · 19/05/2007 16:52

We have a carpet and a doormatGin

dustystar · 19/05/2007 16:53

doh

PeachyChocolateEClair · 19/05/2007 17:18

No we don't have gin, e prefer wine or beer

Actually have been eyeing up a (non-outwell) doormat, byt I think the boys'd swipe it for using as a grass sled.

magnolia1 · 19/05/2007 17:45

Ok have decided on the campingaz 2 stove burner with grill underneath and a bbq for hubby so we both get what we want lol

Lucycat · 19/05/2007 18:09

Well we do have sort of carpets - picnic rugs underneath the air beds and one in the living area to put your feet on - but not plaid stripes!

oh and we do have a Vango and a Quechua tent too

PeachyChocolateEClair · 19/05/2007 18:44

fantastic! well done!

welcome to the camping madhouse!!

cathy5 · 19/05/2007 22:36

Good luck M1 you'll love it i would recommend hot water bottles and each person has a seperate blow up mattress-not very romantic for mr cathy but stops dh and ds 'boinging' in the night! Pop your ds1 in a grow bag with all in one sleepsuit and vest underneath and use fleece blankets etc for extra warmth. We took ds camping at about 9 months and he was toastie in this setup. Don't forget torches!
Have fun

magnolia1 · 19/05/2007 22:51

Omg, Dh would never go for the seperate bed Actually thats probably coz he wouldn't fit on a single

Have to agree seperate air beds as heavier person just ends up lower down and lighter one rolls into the middle and all gets a bit squashy. \link{http://www.outdoormegastore.co.uk/acatalog/Self_Inflating_Mats_Outwell.html\I prefer these kind of mats, they self inflate and are faom filled so warmer and comfier I think. Beats blowing up 7 airbeds , and you could put 2 very close together .

Air beds are cold to lie on (full of cold air) so a fleece blanket or something on top helps.

You will want a stove of somekind to boil kettle and heat beans, so you will need an stove top kettle too . \link{http://www.outdoormegastore.co.uk/acatalog/Outdoor_Megastore_SunnGas_Camping_Stoves_180.html\The one at the top of this list is compact and easy to use, but works off a smaller gas cartridge, so OK for kettle boiling but will run out quick if used far meals too.

Pair of flip flops for everyone for slipping on when going to loos etc.

Skribble · 19/05/2007 23:30

We are going to buy one of these Campingaz Camping Chef Camping Stove with Carry Bag & Regulator
6th one down, Going to have a small bbq too just to shut dh up

Tesco do loads of plastic picnic plates ect.... Only 10p each at the moment is that ok or is it better to get melamine?

I mentioned to dh about putting hot water in a flask for afternoon tea and his answer was: No thats cheating we will just boil more

We have a double airbed that has a soft layer type thing on the top, have used it for sleeping at a friends and it was ok but Dh was sweating like a pig

Apparently millets are selling the campingaz stoves at 1/2 price magnolia so if you have one near you it might be worth checking it out. Apparently the are £24.99 which is a very good price.

magnolia1 · 25/05/2007 11:05

i looked online and they were normal price. Is it just instore?
