Which sleeping bags to buy for beavers and cubs camps?

My very tall 7 yr old and almost 9 year old are doing several outdoor camps this year with cubs and beavers. I’d like sleeping bags that last them so I’m assuming I get full-sized bags? And are mummy or square end best? 7 year old is a generally warm boy while 9 yr old is a skinny girl who I feel could get cold. Old reviews recommend Vango Nitestar - is this still the generally recommended sleeping bag. On Vango it’s not listed under the Scouts recommended bags so I wanted to check if anything else has replaced it. And if Nitestar do I get 300, 350 or 400? We’re in the SE so they shouldn’t suffer perishing nights. Any thoughts would be gratefully received. Thanks!

Get the warmest they can carry easily: provide joggers and socks for sleeping in and then if they get too hot they can take of clothes/sleep on top of the bag. It is cold at night ion a tent and there are few things more miserable than lying in a tent with all around you asleep, frozen to the marrow and too exhausted to weep.
We recommend adult size 3 season bags for Brownies, but we camp less frequently than cubs.

You can also buy fleece inner sleeping bags to add layers when it's really cold and they are easier to wash too.

Three season bags will be fine. Most people tend to prefer mummy bags for warmth, plus they’ll roll down nice and small. Layers of clothing for sleeping in, with a good blanket. And they’ll need a roll mat or something to sleep on.

www.snugpak.com/outdoor/sleeper-extreme I like snugpak as they pack down small and are fairly light.

Thanks so much for the recommendations. I hadn’t heard of snugpak so I’m looking into those as packing up small and being light would be v helpful.
