Any advice on Eurocamp type holidays?

We have a house in Normandy in the family and go there every summer holiday. It’s lovely but the weather is unreliable and I am absolutely desperate for some guaranteed sunshine and a sandy beach. We are always on a tight budget - I’d love a week on a Greek island but it’s out of reach at the moment.

So, I was considering driving down to the South of France from Normandy whilst we’re there and staying at a Eurocamp type of place. I want a static caravan/mobile home rather than a tent, I want a pool, I want a nearby beach and I want hot weather. My children wouldn’t go for kids’ club and I’m definitely not interested in any kind of sporting activities. The children would love the water park/slides though so that would be a big plus.

The only thing I’m worried about is noise - I really want peace and quiet on a holiday and I’m a bit put off by the descriptions of all the Eurocamp parcs as ‘lively’. Is there likely to be a lot of noise from discos and so on at night time?

If anyone has been and has any specific recommendations, I’d really appreciate it. We have a pretty wide scope in terms of area - anything within a ten hour drive of Normandy would be doable. I just want a peaceful sunshine beach holiday on a budget!

The van measurements are in the websites so you can see what you are paying for upfront. Caravans are never going to be spacious, but they're fine as a base for a holiday where you spend most of the time outdoors or away from the site at the beach etc.

My top tips would be take a multigang extension, a chopping board, a sieve, and a sharp knife. Also check the foreign versions of the sites as you may find the French or German eurocamp sites (for example) are cheaper than the uk sites. Or look at booking directly with the holiday park.

Are you sure you want to stay on a campsite?

If you don't need the kids club and your kids don't need other kids to play with or activities, why not just stay in a lovely quiet villa near a beach and public water park?

No campsite will be as peaceful and comfortable as your own villa (I can't wait till dd doesn't want to go to eurocamp type stuff anymore Grin

Have you thought about booking direct with the campsite? You can save a lot of money that way and the accommodation is often nicer. We were at a campsite last year where both Eurocamp and Canvas had a presence, but we stayed in the campsite accommodation. Cheaper, newer and a lot nicer (I know this because we peeked through the windowsof empty units!).
