And no Filly it sisnt rain so can't answer that one yet

We've just got back from our first trip in our Ontario too. we were generally very pleased- a few minor gripes (the stitching on the inner pockets was a bit hit and miss, and it was very hard to get back into its bag first time, although DH ahs sussed this now2). For the money though, and overall flexibility- next time instead of using all the pods we are going to use the divider in the 4 man, let the kids have that, have a 2 man ourse3lves and leave out the other as its a great storage area- its really rather good. DH in particular was very pleased with its performance, in particular the fact he could take it down alone as I was child referre-ing! LOL.

We also got the carpet (only place you can get one is outdoor megastore, its an Outwell but fits perfectly- look at their Ontario page for the link) which was fab, especially for early season camping when it was very cold at night: the footprint which was useful (and thats as excited as I can get about the groundsheets lol) and the canopy. Canopy flaps badly if not put up exactly right- could badly do with a middle guying point to be honest. As well as a sun canopy, should also be called a wind catcher as hard to put up in even a small breeze, and we would be selective where we used it. We will be delta pegging next time! And whilst it was nice when the sun was there- it did rather mean that the area became shaded and cold quickly as it is so big it excludes all but the very front of your view.

On the whole a good tent, would recommend for the money. - thank goodness!

The caravan and camping site at Cheddar- really lovely site, we paid a deposit and got access to a bathroom with showers etc (and a lockable loo) just for famillies- only 2 of us had access- which was great and I have never seen such a nice clean site.

Off to Forest of dean May Day (not your one, Christchurch I think)

That bedroom arrangement is exactly what we do with ours Peachy - last year we were all in the one large compartment as the dd's were that bit littler, and we used one of the 2 man pods as a walk in wardrobe well dumping ground really, then the other pod space was used as a kitchen/food storage area. We will move into the 2 man ths year and the dd's get the junk in with them
It also means that you can leave one bedroom at home.

So glad you liked it - see tunnel tent living ain't so bad

I don't suppose it was in a village called Priddy on the moors above Cheddar Gorge was it? If so, it is the windiest campsite on the planet, no matter what the weather elsewhere. We stayed there last year and could hardly get the tent up in the first place with what felt like gale force winds!

PeachyChocolateEClair · 23/04/2007 20:14

Thats it, yes- LOL!

Didn;'t think many people on here would know priddy (we used to live in Somerset)

Windy yes, nice though.

When you mentioned that it was really windy I knew it would be there!

We went and almost abandoned the holiday because of the wind on the tent. In fact it inspired dh to buy a canvas tent for this year.

Our friends went there after us and they said it was really windy when they went as well.

Went in the canvas version of ours at the sanders display at the weekend, not convinced. Hmmm....could needs be the Norfolk Outwell when we replace (probably 2 years)

It was definitely worth staying there to see Cheddar Gorge though - one of our favourite parts of the UK.

Anyway, now we are equipped with a huge canvas tent instead of our cheapo ebay one that nearly met its maker on that hill.

Agree about the lovely family bathroom by the way, and a lovely campsite all round for good weather.

PeachyChocolateEClair · 24/04/2007 15:02

Cheddar is nice, and often ignored by people too. Most vivid memeries are of walking above the gorge at midnight the dawn of my 18th birthday when a bad fog came down- you couldnt see your feet- and the chap supposedly tailing us for safety ahd gone off to a local lock in so we had to sit it out LOL!
