Not been with keycamp, but I have been in the canvas centuary 28, and you couldn't fit a cot into that one, unless you put it on the bed which would be imho, unsafe. Canvas do a bed rail thing that fits onto a bed, do Keycamp do the same?

codswallop · 21/07/2004 15:47

I dont know
ds3 too small anyway Imo..

grr

don't know about keycamp, but we've done eurocamp a few times and always booked the travel cot but only once used it. They have a hinged bed rail that's actually as high as a cot side and clips into the wall to make an enclosed space, we've always just used that. Apparently they can't sell it as a cot because of the BS standard or something, which is why they provide the travel cots.

nutcracker · 21/07/2004 18:28

I always wonder that when ever i'm booking a holiday.
You'd think they'd come up with something wouldn't you, who wants there child to sleep in the living room.

Am still dithering over wether to book with Keycamp for next year.

Was thinking of going to Le Clarys Plage in Northern Vendee, but wasn't to happy about the 230 quid for travelling to differnt port.
Also not keen on the 5 hour drive after we leave the ferry.
Is it really worth it do you reckon ??

Bagpuss30 · 21/07/2004 18:31

Coddy, just looking at the brochure now and it seems that yours is similar to the Eurocamp one we stayed in in May. Ours was this one and we put dd in a travel cot in bedroom three (marked as 1 on the floor plan). The second bed just folded up and went underneath the other one. Yours may be the same but I can't see any ref in the Keycamp brochure I have (2005). HTH

hmb · 21/07/2004 19:28

Nutcracker, we are going to the vendee but are going via the channel tunnel. Last year we went via cean, but didn't get that much sleep and dh said he'd rather take the short crossing and stop off en route. So we have a day either side booked in Normandy and the deal is still comeing in cheaper than last year. we are with Canvas but you'd get the same deal with Keycamp.

Slinky · 21/07/2004 19:32

We were in a Grand 34 3 bed last year and you wouldn't have been able to fit a cot in any of the rooms.

The 3 bedrooms are double room, twin room (with fixed beds) and bunk-bedded room.

nutcracker · 21/07/2004 19:35

I did think of the channel tunnel but couldn't find any info in the brouchure about it.

Am a complete novice at this, and haven't a clue what i'm doing. Terrified of making a big mistake.

hmb · 21/07/2004 19:43

Don't worry, we went last year and it was the best family holiday we have ever had!

The info on the tunnel is at the back of the brochure. You do have to pay a suppliment but if you go mid week it isn't much. We have now used it twice and it is excellent, particularly since non of us are good sailors. I can recomend some good sites (and sights) in the Vendee, and we are going to another one this year.

nutcracker · 21/07/2004 19:57

Thanks HMB, will have another look at the brochure. Back pages are probably missing by now though, i'll have to pick another up.

We are planning on visiting relatives in Poiters is it far beteen there and the camp i mentioned do you know ??

Sorry about all the qustions

hmb · 21/07/2004 20:10

My mate has, and she said it was wonderful. They went in 1999 and she is thinking of going back next year.

hmb · 21/07/2004 20:11

Not sure, as we didn't do poitiers. The michelin website does good routes on the continent. They will give you the door to door route if you want.

nutcracker · 21/07/2004 20:13

Thanks anyway HMB, will have a look.

hmb · 21/07/2004 20:23

You would be quite close to Challens, which has the most wonderful E L'eclerc hypermarche.......how sad am I! I can't wait to go back there to shop. Thei seafood was wonderful amd the BBQ packs were superb!

Get the Angela Bird guid to the Vendee....it is an excellent guide book and tells you when all the local markets are held etc.

feezy · 21/07/2004 20:54

hmb we are goung to sol a gogo at sssssst Hilaire de Riez . Do you know it ? It is only 10 miles from Challans.

feezy · 21/07/2004 20:54

I haven't got a stutter by the way

hmb · 21/07/2004 20:59

Don't know it, but we drove past it. St hilarie is nice, we went there for the day.

Can't fault the vendee tbh, loads of flat clean beaches, grat food and wine. Locals are nice, forests for the kids to run around. Off this time next week. Cant wait!

Slinky · 21/07/2004 21:15

Just wanted to say "Happy Holidays" to all you fellow Campers

We're off 2 weeks tomorrow and have been checking out the weather - late 20s/early 30s for at least the next 10 days (in Loire Region anyway) YIPPPPEEEE.......

mummysurfer · 21/07/2004 21:16

so jealous, ours is all over and done with

crunchie · 22/07/2004 10:22

Nutty, we went ot le Clarys Plage this Whitsun week, so drop me an email and I can tell you all!!

lucy at essentialpublishing dot co dot uk

We went Dover/Calais and drove. On the way it took 12 1/2 hrs door to door, which was with short breaks. It is a heck of a drive. On the way back we left Sat evening and stopped off for a night at a Formule 1 hotel (very cheap even though we had 2 rooms - £45 for both rooms). The campsite was OK, the swimming pool fantastic, local beach looked OK - we didn't visit. What time of year are you looking at?? I think it might be rather busy in high summer - although you might want that.

Personally (as I have said before) I would wait as long as you can and book a holiday like this at the last minute - particularly if you wanted outside main summer hols. You can really get better discounts then. We paid (don't hate me for this) £237 for a week in a tent with Eurocamp for the Whitsun break (inc ferry). I looked at our new brochure for 2005 and even with early booking disconts the same holiday would be more then double!!

We would go again and that same week is pencilled in, but we will wait until 6 weeks prior to book. You might not get first choice of site, but it makes it great value.

Good Luck

littlemissbossy · 22/07/2004 10:33

No coddy, a travel cot will not fit in any of the bedrooms. However, Keycamp bedrooms usually have a facility to change one of the single beds into a cot i.e. bars that attach to the wall around the bed IYSWIM. I'd email them to check

codswallop · 22/07/2004 11:42
