Is this the norm?

Just came back from our 1st camp trip. Everything went really well with regards to setting up & the kids enjoying themselves.
We booked specifically on a 'quiet' farm, family friendly site, no groups etc.

On site there were 4/5 tent different families staying who joined together at one end of the field. We were told that they all live on the same street at home & always camp together so essentially make a group. They set their windbreaks up to segregate. Even one of the washing up points was blocked off in their side.

Last night they had music on loud until gone 23:30hrs & then they carried on partying outside being loud, singing, swearing etc until about 2am.

I'm no killjoy but it was bloody late & we've got little kids as did others.

Is this normal?
I'm all for people partying but it was a bit much.

Well I think I would have been mischievous with 'their' washing up point but the rest is a bit meh. Camping is noisy regardless.

No it's not the norm, most campers are more considerate of the noise they generate.

Been on plenty of busy sites and have yet to come across a noisy group.

I would have gone and told them to shut up by midnight at the latest.
You do get the odd camper who thinks like this and has no thought for others, but most (like me) let the kids run around like maniacs in the day but keep things quiet at night.

Amplified music should have stopped by 11 pm. They shouldn't have been too noisy after that either, although speech does carry a long way at night and there's nothing much can be done about it. Ideally the campsite owner should have gone over and asked them to quieten down a bit, but so often the owner manager is un-findable when needed!

The only time we had anything like this at a so called family campsite the party involved came over to everyone's tents and asked us if we'd like to join them - which we did and it was great Smile.

We went to a ghastly site at Pooley Bridge where everyone seemed to want to party til late, but at most sites there seems to be an agreed curfew time around 10.30ish.
Think you were just unlucky OP.
