Has anyone stayed at Fierbois, Les Alicourts, or Les Coteaux du Lac? Any other Loire gems?

Half gathering a plan for next year Blush

I really like the look of Ribeyre in the Auvergne, which I think will be the main site for the holiday. Looking for a second site and a possible stopover in the Loire. Not sure on exact plans, but will hopefully have 3 weeks to play with:

Plan at the moment, something like: St Malo/Caen - Loire stopover for 2 nights, Auvergne 12, Loire 7.

Sites in order of cost:
Coteaux
les alicourts
fierbois

I like a lake! The last two are much more resort like, and more expensive. Which is fine for the facilities they offer, but then I will feel more like staying on site to use them, rather than exploring. Les alicourts is further away from Loire sites, and also has a minimum booking of a week which is a bit of a pain- we could be more flexible on travel dates by doing a 4-12-5 combo.

Loved this one in the Loire last year prunay.fr/en/
Huge pitches, very peaceful, v low key activities for kids in the day (sufficiently so that mine were keen to go).

Chateau des marais is our favourite Loire site

Les Alicourts is lovely. Very well laid out and peaceful but with plenty to do both on site and in the area.

sortingfinances Prunay looks fab, but I can't decide if the site looks better for younger children from the photos, we'll have a 14, 12 and 9 by then.

I've put chateau back on a possible list, it's certainly nearer sights and looks lovely without being too resorty. It looks like they have quite rigid arrival/departure days. We're hoping to travel midweek for cheaper ferries and less traffic.

Sparkle, what kind of sights did you travel to from Alicourts and how long did it take you?

Been to Les Alicourts twice, v nice site, one year to a chalet, one year in a mobile home, both times booked direct with site, much cheaper than with British companies. My kids are younger but the kids club aimed at teenagers did have a lot of takers from memory.

The lake was cool for swimming but there is a pool. The evening entertainment is a bit on the cheesy side but the entertainment team can't be faulted for their enthusiasm. And my kids loved it, which meant we could enjoy wine whilst they lapped up the shows!!

Day trip wise we went to chateaux, Blois, an aquarium, the zoo at Beauville, lots of bike riding in local area. Lovely countryside all around.

I would go again.

You are probably right with those ages. Mine are 13 to (almost) 8 now and would like to go back, but were certainly the older end of kids there for making friends.
For a cheap site the municipal at Amboise gets good reviews with river swimming.

We stayed at chateau de marais a few years ago. Love how close it is to chambord. We ruled out les alicourts because it was much further out for visiting the different châteaux.
Two years ago we stopped at fierbois on the way to les valades. It was so easy to get to en route down south. We chose that one as it was an all singing all dancing site in comparison to our main one at LV. The grassy area around the pools was grotty but apart from that it was a great site.

I'd go back to la ribeyre today if I could! Grin
