in august we are heading to north Wales for 2 weeks. we have booked some lovely but basic campsites - we have a small campervan and a 3 yr old and 5 yr old.

we like parks, swimming and being outdoors. lots of the activities I have seen are for older children.

does any one have any good suggestions for activities, parks and pools that are age appropriate?... please.

we are taking bikes. also keen for restaurant and castle recommendations.

hit me with your must dos.. please. never been to north Wales and I am really excited as Wales is such a beautiful place. also is it going to rain the whole time?

thanks

The trains on the Harlech coast are go too. You can get to Portmeirion and Porthmadog. The steam trains in Porthmadog are a good day out. If you don't want to spend a huge amount of time on the train, try the half way trip Smile

Forest Park
Walk up to Idwal Slabs from Ogwen Cottage (completely doable for 3 year old)
Caernarfon castle (great playground nearby too)
Slate museum - Llanberris
Pete's Eats (cafe) - Llanberris

Walks up to the old slate quarries - and abandoned houses - in woods behind Slate Museum
I think you can hire boats on the lake in Llanberis too
Mountain biking at Coed y Brennin / although right in the south side of Snowdonia
Nice low level walks in Beddgellert
Great cafe in an old church on edge of Beddgellert.
Brilliant family friendly cafe at Conway Falls just south of Betws y Coed
Train up Snowdon, or walk one way? (If you don't buy a return trip from the bottom you can't guarantee that there will be a space downwards though).
Newborough Sands, Anglessey (old fishing cottages)
Red Wharf Bay is a nice beach too (also Anglesey).
