Has anyone been to any Eurocamp, would you recommend?

We did Eurocamp in 2015 and 2016. We had a tent both times. We went l'Atlantique in Brittany the first year, which was a nice site but no shops etc in walking distance - it had a brilliant indoor soft play area on the campsite though. In 2016 we went to Clarys Plage in the Vendee, which had an amazing waterpark, and shops and supermarkets in walking distance but was a bit too big for us. Our experiences with Eurocamp were excellent - we used the toddler learn to swim and learn to ride classes which our daughter loved. We found the tents to be very well-equipped.
All in all, we had a fantastic experience with Eurocamp

Love Eurocamp. We get the static caravans and stay at the waterpark sites near the beach. Free kids club if they want to use it. Most caravans further down inFrance/Spain have air con and it's not massively expensive. Also self catering so if you're happy with croissants, baguettes and cheese etc it's not too expensive once you get there if your on a budget( like us!)

eyeoresancerre · 09/07/2017 20:11

Sorry air con is included I meant the holiday not massively expensive.

needsomesunshineandwine · 09/07/2017 20:14

Aw sounds great, we have been all inclusive in the past and was a bit worried the spending money would jump up with self catering. We would all be happy with croissants etc, will see where my friend has in mind. Thanks for your comments.

If you find a site you like check out other companies that go there. We did about 14 consecutive years of Euro camp style Holidays but they were always too expensive. We went with Siblu, Matthews, canvas and Thomson Al fresco and had amazing times every year.
Agree with air con and shaded balcony if going to the South of France though.

NemosKnickers · 12/07/2017 08:31

Sorry to hijack this thread, but sounds great! I hadn't considered these holidays before.

Can anyone recommend specific sites please?

reallyneedmoresleep · 12/07/2017 09:56

We have done this type of holiday with our 3 sons (now 13, 11 and 9) for the last 7 years.
We use Canvas holidays rather than Eurocamp - slightly cheaper and they often seem to have larger pitches for some reason. We've stayed in maxi tents and in static caravans, the latter having the advantage of your own loos and shower.
We love these holidays - the kids have the freedom of the campsite and we get time to relax. We take our bikes and et out lots.
Our family favourites are La Garangeoire in the Vendee, Les Peneyrals in the Dordogne and Camping Duinrell in the Netherlands.

Currently typing from a Eurocamp Safari Tent at Le Vieux port in Southwest France. It's brilliant - I especially love this site, it's vast! we used to come here as kids and have been visiting since 1993. Now I come here with my toddler. The pool is brilliant, it's got direct beach access and loads of wildlife, the cycling paths are exceptionally good through beautiful woods.....
I'm going to be really bummed to leave on Sunday. We're looking at mixing it up next year and going to Le Baum at Frejus instead just for a change, the drive is the same (almost). But I'm curious to see if anyone else has been and what they thought!

needsomesunshineandwine · 12/07/2017 18:11

Sounds fab, thanks everyone. Will by my task for the weekend to hopefully pick one.

@teejayem
We went to La Baume in may half term.
I was bit concerned by the reviews and the motorway noise but we could hardly hear it, and only if we really really listened.
Site was nice, lots of trees so you don't feel overlooked at all. We were in a static.
Pools were nice, the splash zone was great for toddlers. Not enough sun beds though so you had to get there as soon as pool opened (at 10am so now dawn scrums!)
Shop on sight was reasonably priced and had quite a bit, although a Lidl 5 minutes away.
Kids didn't do any of the kids clubs so no idea what they are like and we didn't go to any of the evening entertainment.

It is a drive to the beach (lots to choose from) and we never found parking a problem. (And it was super cheap like 50 cents for 2 hours!!)
You will need a car as can't really walk to anywhere from the campsite.

samlovesdilys · 12/07/2017 19:22

Totally recommend Eurocamp, have been for past 10 years with kids, pick a 'castel' site in France and you know it will be fab!

phoenixtherabbit · 12/07/2017 19:40

Place marking! Has anyone been to vilanova or cala gogo in Spain? Considering one of them for may half term with a 2yo and 13yo...

teejayem · 13/07/2017 16:49

Interesting Brie thank you for sharing! Are there any cycle routes near the site do you know? Also we love the whole under canvas experience but I am wondering if it will be too hot - we would probably be going late June...

samlovesdilys · 16/07/2017 21:10

Depends where you want to go...Normandy / Brittany I compare to conwall so could be lovely or could be cool and damp...Loire will be warm in the day, cool in evenings, as will Vendee (hope for shorts during day, jeans and hoodie in evening) further south (dordogne, Biarritz etc ) will be warmer..could be hot but not guaranteed! France is always good though, pick a site with stuff to do / close to things and you will be great!!

StinkyMcgrinky · 16/07/2017 21:21

We did out first Eurocamp holiday this year with our two DS (1 & 2). We stayed at the Domain de soleil plage just outside of Sarlat in the Dordogne. We absolutely loved it. Had a static caravan with air con (which we needed as they had a heat wave while we were there and it was 35c+ most days!)

The pool area was amazing with plenty for the kids, a small shop on site which wasn't cheap but was great for picking up small bits. Bicycle hire available as well as canoeing down the river.

We're already looking at Eurocamp 2018 Grin
