Folding campers - braked or unbraked

Hi we may be getting a pennine pathfinder 600 folding camper but we're not sure if our 1.2 skoda yeti can tow it. If it's braked it can, if it's unbraked it can't. The weight of the pathfinder is 1000kgs. Does anyone know if it is braked or unbraked or how I can find out. doing lots of searching but can't seem to get a reliable definite answer. Really can't risk ruining our only car!! Any advice welcome please....

Try www.ukcampsite.co.uk/chatter/display_forum_topics.asp?ForumID=10 - folding camper forum. Also try Pennine Owners Club www.pennineownersclub.org.uk/

We have a folding camper and our 1.8 struggles on hills.

Good luck - folding campers are wonderful!

I think anything heavier than 750kgs has to be braked?

Can the seller tell you?

Call a dealer / manufacturer and check!

I did so much searching on this when I bought my folding camper! I had a 1.2 Hyundai i10 and thought I'd be ok towing a 750kg braked conway Challenger. The car was ok with just the trailer but wouldn't have managed with a packed car too and we'd have quickly killed the clutch. It also felt quite dangerous towing with a small car close to the kerb weight limit.

I quickly upgraded to (second hand, cheap, 10yo) mondeo. If you're serious about towing, get a car designed to do it then there's no worry.

Other than that, if you want to find out if your model is brakes then head to the Conway / pennine owners club website and look at the original brochures on there. They'll give all the original specs.

Oh, and I love LOVE my folding camper!
