camping lights

can anyone recommend a decent camping light? we got rechargeable ones kast year but noth aren't working this year

How long will battery lampslast? we have no electric hook up and are away for a week.

I love ikea battery fairy lights. They give quite a good light, but a gentle glow. Cheap and the batteries easily lasted a 4 day camp with no issues. Might be worth a try?

have some of those already but would like a substantial light

We have never had ehu.

We have had two of these for years, maybe 10 years. Batteries last a couple of weeks on average.

It can be too bright!

We also use feurhand paraffin lamps (have cotton tents) but the black diamond lamps are what we use when we need to see

They are! But ten years on ..... We don't buy a lot but DH is a gear snob and I have to say it often pays off, most of our gear lasts forever.

Most of the time I let him get on with it, one less thing for me to think about (but we do have ridiculously expensive tents and all manner of gear as a result).

At the cheapo cheapo end of the scale, I like the lights currently on sale in Aldi that are light bulb shaped - sold in packs of two. The give out good light, last for ages on one AA battery and are easy to hand from anywhere. I have about 4. Then I use a Vango Eye Light to read by. I love Eye Lights - stand them up like a little bedside light, hang or hook them...

You would probably need to take some spare batteries although ours have now been fine for 3x weekend trips. Nice soft light and pretty robust.

We have one of these, it's very good. It has a couple of different brightness settings and a removable torch.

We also use headlamps, I got some from home bargains for £1.49 and they are surprisingly good. They use 4 AAA batteries

Home bargains and the range sell lightbulb a on cords. You just pull them and they click on.

We have got headlamps galore (DH uses them at work).

Fine for their purpose, going to the loo, looking for something in the dark - but I find them a bit anti social otherwise.

You can't hold a conversation with these headlamps even on low whilst looking at the other person - blinding.

We all keep one next to our sleeping bag but I wouldn't want to rely on them all night.

We have 3 of these and are going to buy a few more. They were really cheap - think less than £5 each - from Go Outdoors. Think they have a led bulb in them so give decent light & we have been using them for a while and haven't changed the bulb yet. The hand flips round so they can also stand on a table.

nice and bright ,different settings ,and you can hang or stand it either way up ,batteries last ages . I read by it in our v old caravan .
