I've not, but wondered where it is?

Yes we stayed there for 10 nights last August with 2 other families and it was fabulous. It's a very relaxed campsite with few rules (no set pitches etc) but had everything you could possibly need & more. The owners are lovely & bring a bread cart (the bread fairy) round every morning with orders from the local bakery. They also have a moules & frittes night where everyone sits in the barn eating food & drinking beer / wine. They had just installed a pizza oven last year which was lovely. There are animals to feed, the owner will drive the kids round on his tractor, a 'natural' swimming pool ie a pond and an indoor games room. The location is great, perfect for the beaches, local towns and D day stuff. Can't recommend highly enough.

Thank you Tattiepants we go on Sunday, and I can't wait. It sounds so amazing and the weather looks like it could be a scorcher. What I wanted to know about was what is nearby. Can you recommend anywhere to go, nice towns, is there supermarket nearby? There will be 4 adults and 3 children, 5, 5 and 3. Can you recommend a good beach?

Thank you

It's a 10 minute drive to the town of Isigny that has an Intermarche & Carrefour plus cheese shops, bakers etc. Definitely worth eating at the campsite a few nights. From memory they did moules / frites (or sausages), pizza night & chicken n chips - food was lovely and good value. There is fridge there so you can keep stuff cool.

Other towns worth a look were Bayeux (tapestry, cathedral, British cemetery & general wander), Honfleur (about 1.5 hrs away but was absolutely beautiful) and sainte-mere-eglise (nice to wonder round, good wwll museum). On a rainy day there is a fab attraction in the old transatlantic cruise ship terminal that has a titanic exhibition, aquarium, go on a nuclear submarine etc.

We went to Utah and Omaha beaches which were both sandy, not too busy and water not too cold. There is a good WWll museum at Utah & some sculptures / memorials at Omaha worth seeing.

Even if you aren't particularly interested in WWll history it's worth visiting some of the sights. The US cemetery at Colleville is breathtaking (& very moving) ands it's also worth visiting the German cemetery at La Cambe as a contrast (5 mins from campsite and there is a cider farm behind). Arromanches is very interesting and has a 360 cinema showing real footage from d day. Pointe-du-hoc is also worth a visit, you can go inside bomb craters and German pillboxes. We went as a group of 6 adults & 6 children (4, 6, 7 & 3 X 9) and we all loved it.
