Was in the travel agent this morning & this is where we're thinking of going. Prices aren't too bad & it's not too far from Disneyland paris which is where dd really wants go!! The campsite was Berny Riviere (La Croix du Vieux Pont) & staying in a Vilanove midi with decking... anyone ever been here or have any experience of fly/drive France region????

Thinking of booking it tomorrow......

hi i went to this caravan park four years ago, and it was great. there's a lovely swimming pool, great restaurant, it's all really clean, lovely lake on site. It's an hours fast drive to disney but theres no traffic at all so its really easy. also it took about 2.5 hours to get there from calais, so not a long journey at all!

I think we would fly into CDG airport & hire a car there. The girl in the travel agent priced everything, bed linen, car hire, flights & accomodation & it wasn't too bad, it cost much much more to go by boat which is what dh wanted to do originally!

Glad to hear that milkybararus Was scared it wasn't good. I looked on the website there, slightly worried now that they hadn't listed a vilanova midi as accomodation...

me again. when you thinking of going? and can i be cheeky and ask how much?

Fireflyfairy2 · 24/01/2007 16:10

Beginning of July. 4 of us. 2 adults & 2 kids for just under £1,500. To go by boat would have cost £2900

you can book direct and save a bundle, just type in berny rivierre into google. Also, when we were there all the big camping names are there. i.e, keycamp, eurosites, eurocamp, etc. so my advice is to shop around cos the accomodation is all exactly the same! just differant prices (eurosites was cheapest when we went)

Thanks, will have a look Would I still be insured if I did it all myself? That's kinda why we chose to go with a travel agent incase anything went wrong.

How much by ferry?

I'm seriously stunned!

How on earth do they justify that?

sound great btw

You can take out independant insurance, everyone from Boots to Tesco to you car insurer does packages.

Def try and book direct with the park, they often have there own accomodation to rent out.

La Croix Du Vieux their own site, lovely Gites as they call them, see how te prices compare.

this is interesting. I was going to book a France caravan hol annd just noticed I could book much cheaper direct with the site. Thanks for isurance info skribble.

Firefly - what boat were you going with? I was surprised how cheap the boats were. And £1500 does sound like a heck of a lot of money. I'm looking at £1000 at same time of year (although maybe your caravan is larger etc).

KTeePee · 25/01/2007 13:57

How long are you going for? Sounds a lot considering it is outside school holidays....I would expect to be staying in a hotel for that....

Definitely look at booking the campsite directly - I am doing that for a holiday in another part of France and you can probably save about 50% by booking directly with the campsite and sorting out your own ferry crossing.

Think the travel agent is having a laugh by saying the ferry would be 1400 dearer - which route had you been thinking of taking? I know the channel tunnel is only about £200 max return...

I think there are other campsites also handy for Disney.

HI I would look a direct company prices.
we have been here 3 times with direct booking through Keycamp.
We are going again in September 4 adults 3 kids a extra car on the ferry in a grand three bed for £365
The campsite is fab as is duinrill in Holland if anyone is intreasted lol!
We do our own insurance and it was £40 for us all.
keycamp website gives this price by boat
