So these icey tek cool boxes...

Are they worth the price tag? We currently have an electric cool box which is alright - but only just. It doesn't really keep stuff cold enough. Maybe I'm expecting too much.

Would an icey tek do the job better? Would it work will enough for 14 days? We usually have stuff like alcohol milk, butter, cheese, yogurts, ham, fruit in our box. We're a family of five, how big a box would we need? Finally I can't get to see the colour range on my browser. Anything particularly nice?

Buy one.
We're just back from two weeks in the SFrance in 30 degree heat and the milk we took with us is still fresh!
I prechilled the box over 48 hours using frozen bottles of water. I put in frozen food (inc milk) and everything else v chilled with a couple of bottles of frozen water, 2 Aussie ice packs and any other ice packs I had.
After 5 days I added a frozen bottle of water then did this every 3rd day. After a week I stuck an ice block in from the supermarket. I only emptied a bit of water from the bottom when it started getting silly!
That might sound a faff but it was so much less than a normal cool box (every 2/3 days), worked better and no electric needed.
We were still drinking ice cold beers and wine on our last day!! Oh, and the butter and yogurts and meat were fresh but who cares about that?

Well yes indeed, we don't actually need fresh food as long as my gin-in-a-tin is coldGrin

So you would recommend? The water in the bottom of our cool box drives me mad, as we have to exchange blocks every day anyway. And despite it looking big, is not actually because of the fan unit. We had to have it turned up quite high, which I think may have contributed to the EHU burning outShock

I needed a more efficient cool box but I couldn't justify shelling out for an Icey tek, so I bought one of these instead. It worked really well on my trip last week, everything was cold and fresh for the week. I swapped ice packs every 2 days. My previous cheap supermarket cool box needed new packs every day and still warmed up.

Just an alternative if cost is an issue.

We have an igloo, it's awesome. Stuff stays fresh for days, never have to throw away off milk etc & doubles as an extra seat if necessary.

We recently bought a 66 ltr Coleman Xtreme. It was £70 delivered, and performed very well on a week long trip to Cornwall. I pre chilled it, added frozen or chilled food/drinks with regular ice packs and a bag of ice. I added half a bag of ice on day 5 (there was still some ice in there at that point). We brought home cold beer and milk after 7 days. I didn't add any refrozen ice packs.
I am sure the IceyTek would outperform it, but as an alternative at a much lower price I was more than impressed.

Slightly off topic but do ice/frozen bottles of water work better than cool blocks ?

DH seems quite keen on the idea of the icey tek, as it's one less thing to plug in and ours isn't working that well. Will check out the alternatives as well, thank you.
