Sleeping bags for larger people!

We've always taken our own 'proper' bedding but DH is keen to get sleeping bags as they'll take up less space in the car (I'm very handy with bedding rolls & unconvinced but that's another story).

He's 6ft 4 and slim but well built, I'm 5ft 3 and a size 22 (hopefully a 20 by the time we go!)

The most expensive option we've looked at was a double sb at about £75, so don't want to spend more than that. Have also looked at getting 2 pod style bags.

Any suggestions re good sized bags & whether to go for double or 2 singles.

I really feel the cold & am also concerned that sb won't be warm enough & will end up needing blankets thus defeating the object.

Sow two duvets together and pass it off as a sleeping bag, if you really want a duvet?

I think it's your double height airbed making you cold rather than your bedding choice. You might find a single height airbed or SIM warmer. DAunt and DUncle bought a double height airbed and found that they were much colder in it.

Sleep on mats rather than airbeds. Airbeds are freezing!

Me and my husband have a standard double sleeping bag. We sleep on a SIMwhich I put a fitted sheet on. Then unzip the sleeping bag completely, hubby has the top half I have the bottom half. Never feel cold.

My Yellowstone arrives today and I am taking it to a festival with DD on Saturday. Quite curious to see if it can compete with our normal massive duvet for warmth (although I am taking a blanket for the two of us to share just in case).

We have just bought Snooze Pods from Go Outdoors - DH is a big man but used his this weekend and said he had loads of room.
If you're determined to take your duvet though, we've done this on the last few occasions - fold it flat like a carpet in the boot of your car, then pack everything else on top of it - it takes up no room at all as all the air is squashed out of it...
