We're off camping this weekend - as it's only a weekend we're travelling light, so no cooker, kettle etc.
We'll be eating main meals out but breakfast will be on site. The only thing I can think of for breakfast is those mini cereal packs - just wondered if anyone had any better/more interesting suggestions?

TIA :)

We have those little dorset cereals packs of porridge stirred into yoghurt with berries and croissants for a no cook - easy and delicious.

Chocolate Crepes - you can buy individually wrapped ones in packs of 6. Croissants, brioche etc. or you lift be lucky and have a van on site for a bacon roll !

MyBootsAreMuddy · 03/06/2015 16:31

We usually do brioche or croissants and fruit or make wraps for the first morning camping or if we can't be bothered to get the stove out.

Bananas and strawberries to add to any cereal option

BertrandRussell · 03/06/2015 16:33

You can't camp without a stove! Early morning tea and bacon sandwiches are the best bits of camping!!!!!!

Oat cakes & Peanut Butter

Thanks all :)

sassy - where would we get these chocolate crepes? Sound fab Grin

Bertrand - that would usually be my thinking but a) we're veggie, so a bacon buttie would never be an option :( and b) they apparently have a hot drinks machine on site, so the essential morning cuppa is guaranteed :)

Thing is, if we pack "light" (ha!)), we can get it all in the boot. If we take the stove, that needs the gas bottle, probably a table, probably the cool box, probably a crate of food and utensils.... and then we need the roof box. Which ain't gonna happen for a weekend away Grin Wink

Croissants, fruit and yogurt.
Good call travelling light and leaving the stove. We seem to spend the entire day cooking and clearing up whenever we camp.

You need a Trangia OP wonderful device.

HuevosRancheros · 03/06/2015 17:40

We have actually got a trangia type set, from pre-DC camping, that may be the answer! (at least I'll get a decent cup of tea :))
Thank you :)

We've bought chocolate crepes from Morrisons. Found in the malt loaf and bagels section.

TiggyD · 03/06/2015 17:45

Chocolate pain! Those French things. I dangle mine over the stove on a fork to warm up.

Cereal. You could spread stuff on bread - peanut butter, cream cheese, jam? Chocolate brioche or croissants?

I wonder if you can get hot water from the drinks machine? We had pots of porridge on our last trip - you just add boiling water and stir. Great hit.

Artandco · 03/06/2015 19:23

We did our first trip beginning of May for the weekend with no cooking. Had a cool box though

Breakfast - granola, oat milk, fruit, crossients, pain chocolate, individual smoothies

Lunch - bread, various pre sliced cheeses, cooked sliced meats, fruit.

Dinner - in restaurants

Chocolate and wine for evenings. Marshmallows on communal campfire

BikeRunSki · 03/06/2015 19:25

Bagels and Nutella

MumSnotBU · 03/06/2015 19:29

Overnight oats- oats, chopped mixed nuts, seeds, linseed, dried fruit (whatever really!) in a Tupperware-add milk before bed then they're lovely and soggy in the morning. Add banana if you fancy. Sounds horrible but tastes great. Great if you're climbing a hill as good fuel for exercise.
