We are a family of 5 and are thinking of buying a cadac - are they any good? We usually camp in summer on the continent for about 3weeks and maybe have one or two other shorter trips each year in the UK.

Currently use a one ring burner but it's time to upgrade. If we went for the big one, we would probably also use it in the garden at home in summer to replace our old BBQ.

What do you think of them? Do they pack down nicely? Ease of use? Thanks! Smile

Hi,we have a cadac Safari, is big enough to cook for 4 and is v compact. Worked v well in France last year, didn't need anything else - lots of 'one pot' suppers and extras to go with bbq. I wanted the bigger one but it is a lot bigger and has a lot of stuff that comes with it. Just couldn't justify the space it would take up! Have a look for deals, there were several around last year. Extras can be bought on eBay, and just make sure you get the right gas bottle fitting !! Good luck!!

We have the bigger cadac and live it. I was against dh getting one at first as it was a lot of money but its been worth it. Abroad we use it for most meals!

The Safari is too small for a family of five - can't fit enough on the grille.
Also its low down, which is a pain, unless you have thighs of steel Grin.

Get the big one. I cooked for 9 of us for a couple of weeks last summer - grilled chops, kebabs, sausages, burgers, omelettes to order, fried potatoes, boiled big pots of pasta and ravioli, pancakes, egg and bacon etc.

We have the safari and have it on a table which raises it up perfectly and then we stash it under the table at night in case of rain! It's perfect for us 2 adults and two small children but if you have the car space I'd definitely go for the bigger one. Top tip for the grill cleaning is to use fairy power spray, not very Eco but it's a pain to scrub without.

We have one and it's great. It cooks very quickly and well. I'm not sure what model it is but its not low down so I guess not the small one. One tip though: make sure you remember the legs when packing it! Blush

Thanks for the advice everyone! Was thinking about the big one - when the kids get older they will want to eat so much more (and they sat enough now!),

Will go and check one out IRL - does anyone know of any good deals - shop or online? Thanks!

We have the big one, TBH we don't take it camping anymore as just find it too much of a faff, it's fairly difficult to clean on a campsite and it takes up so much space when travelling. Since we have Marie Kondo'd our life Grin we have gone minimalist with our camping gear too and now use 2 tiny burners, (we have 3 teenagers but manage!)

The Cadac is wonderful at home though! we use it most days and it makes fabulous paella.

I can't remember if we got ours from go outdoors or not, but its also on amazon for the same price. You can also buy reusable liners that you put over the pans before you cook, then its just the liner that needs washing.
