France - where in August? (Water park but quiet)

We are considering going to France for the last week of August in our own tent god help us.

Firstly what region would you suggest for good weather? The "dream" is lounging in the pool with the children, but fear the reality might be playing cards in a tent in the rent.

Secondly, children will be 10 and 6. Don't want to go somewhere therefore where there are lots of teenagers / noise in the evening (not looking for nightly entertainment) but the children would love slides in pool, maybe an area to play football etc.

Not asking for much am I Hmm?

Anny recommendations gratefully received.
Thanks

Are you getting the ferry to Calais? It may depend where you're starting from. How far do you want to drive?
The last week in August should be quiet as Dutch schools have gone back, so you should find everywhere a bit quieter anyway.

Thank you. Yes, probably Calais arrival or maybe Le Havre, but just wondering how far south we have to go? Lovely spring day is making me crave sunshine Smile.

I'm a bit of a newbie but our French trip to le littoral in the Vendee last year was a great start. Everyone I spoke to said go as far south as you can drive. The factors that influenced our choices were
Ferries- how quick to drive to in the UK, the cost (shorter the crossing the cheaper) and the drive in France. We went for newhaven-Dieppe as half an hour drive there, 11pm ferry and cabin allowed us a sleep before plugging on when we arrived at 3am (not 5am as stated) this gave us a lot of driving with kids asleep.
The driving time-wanted max 6 hours, headed south to the Vendee, it's similar drive to beachy Brittany but average temps a few degrees higher in the Vendee.
DH is a reluctant camper so wanted it to be somewhere with decent facilities, we chose our pitch and hired a fridge.
le littoral is a bit more holiday park than I would ever do in the UK but we spent our time in the pool or on the pitch whilst on site and didn't really notice the entertainment side. We're going yelloh again but a slightly shorter drive and nearer to Nantes so we can visit the Machine d'Lille again...that was awesome.
There are so many great camp sites to choose from, I found it difficult choosing between them so stuck with the same company. I've had Indigo and Huttopia recommended and there are others recommended on other Vendee threads recently, one very green looking with its own lake. Sorry can't remember the name.
Bon Voyage!

I've never heard of the machine d'ile but it looks great. May have to go to nantes!
