Camping near Glastonbury

Ok lovely camping pals, I need help finding a site near Glastonbury. So, based on the kind of sites we like (Forgewood, Abbotstone Wood, Stubcroft Farm) do you have any recommendations? Must haves include campfire, decent proper toilets, showers. The children range from 5-9 yrs.

I have looked at Greenacres and Wookey Hole. Anyone been to either?

Thanks Smile

My only camping experience in that neck of the woods is along with 200k others as part of the festival Grin but presume you mean for just camping in general? Anyway, it's a bump for you for the evening crowd.

Ha ha WicksEnd me too almost 30 years ago! Slightly different this time though and tbh I have a very hazy memory of last time Wink

We've been to Greenacres and would definitely recommend it. You can see Glastonbury tor from the site. Lovely laid back crafts for the children. A van comes by from the local shop in the evening to sell meat for the bbq and booze. Lovely site.

I've booked Pitch Perfect in Woolverton for this year (can't link on phone) which might be a bit further away than you want.

Thanks Thumbcat. I looked at Pitch Perfect too but yes def would be better to be closer.

We went to Greenacres last summer. Good atmosphere, nice host.

We have stayed at Wookey farm.

It's a sweet site, lovely owners. Working farm with lots of friendly goats and kids for the DC to pet.

There is also a swing over a stream/shallow river that kept ours entertained and of course the campfires went down well.

There are 'eco long drop toilets' which are not as alarming as they sound but there were no showers when we went.

Thumbcat and onelankwen - I'm looking at the site plan - where is the nicest place to camp? I don't think we would want to be in the narrow field, so thinking one of the pitches 8-14 possibly. Have a football crazy son who would happily kick a ball around all day!

We were opposite the play area. The end you're looking at would probably be best for kicking a ball around.
