Would love to get away this year, not resort camping - absolutely hate clubhouses! Electric hook up not necessary. We are in West Sussex, don't mind driving for a couple if hours but would prefer to head South / South West.

We have 4 children aged 10 - 2 so campsite needs to be family friendly but without people dressed up in mascot / animal suits. DD has SEN and easily spooked by loud noises etc.

This will be our first year with full kit, so I'm eager to try it all out! Budget is slim.

Your recommendations would be appreciated :)

We have camped here in Somerset currypoolmill.co.uk/. Lovely quiet site but we went as part of a group and took over the donkey field and iirc it was May so could be busier during summer. Only negative for me was that DS who was 4 at the time kept running off because he could see the play area from our tent and it was near the little pond. The children really enjoyed it though.

Sorry, just realised that is probably too far away from you Blush.

It's 3.5hrs away, I'll have a look at their website, thank you.

We are off to Wilksworth farm near Wimbourne in Dorset, it looks fab and has great reviews Smile

That looks lovely but too expensive once I add in my 4 DDs! Have a great time :)

Currypool looks lovely, and those donkeys!!

I don't like having to add another £10+ per night for the children.

We've been to Inwood twice. Best campsite - camp in the woods, nobody bothers you, and it feels private even when there are lots of campers. And they have woodland showers!

SummerLoving

We've just got home from a fab long weekend at Wilksworth - have to say we couldnt fault it, a really ace little site with amazing facilities for children. Pool, playground, bmx track, tennis court, plsyhouses for the under7s and a beach volleyball pitch - but, thankfully, no clubhouse so a lovely peaceful site too ( lots of families enjoying a glass of wine. & a bbq).

Beautifully kept. The swiming pool was very welcome after putting up/taking down the tent.

Inwood looks fantastic, just the kind of thing I was looking for! Will look properly on PC tomorrow.

Thanks all!

We absolutely love Longthorns Farm
It is chilled and relaxed and right near monkey world / tank museum and plenty of other things to do.
There is a wood to walk through and animals on site for the children to look at. We camp a lot and have not found a site as good as this in SW.

We love Inwood too, it's our default spur of the moment weekend campsite as it's local to us. Downsides are the hum of traffic from the M3 and the earth toilets can be a bit grim (the normal ones are fine). Younger DC can get a bit lost in the woods too, I had to spend time helping a lost sobbing 5 year old find her tent again.
