Recommendations for lovely campsite in Cornwall or Devon

We are planning on camping this summer and looking at the south west. DH is a challenge to please and likes a top quality site, great views and green space for the kids. Do not want camping tacked onto caravan site if you know what i mean.

We are planning to take the big tent rather than the weekend pop up.

Anyone have any great ideas, I am a bit overwhelmed and not sure where to start.

We are going to leadstone campsite in Dawlish , there's a group of 12 families with tents and it's 10 minutes from the sea, we haven't been before but the reviews are very good, I really struggled to find a campsite in Devon they all seemed to be for touring caravans or were holiday parks.

Blackpool Sands near Dartmouth

River Dart Country Park - loads of space and woods with adventure play ground and water play. Lots of toilet and shower blocks. Big pitches. We had a fab time!

Crofton Country park in Dawlish, Devon. They've got indoor swimming pool, decent bar, some lovely decent pubs 10 min walk away.

And whilst Cornwall is lovely, I always forget how much further it is south. South Devon is beautiful.

Hendra in Newquay, it gets better every year!

Gwithian Farm in Cornwall- lovely site, lots of Boden and bunting :o

Trevornick holiday park it's fantastic it's about 3 miles from Newquay

Pleasant Streams, lots of space, campfires, short drive to local beaches and a pretty manmade laje in the middle of the site with a rowboat (lifejackets in the shed), also small stream and a couple of rope wings dotted around. No caravans.

Stowford farm meadows near Ilfracombe and woolacombe. Fab views and facilities are superb. Nice pool, kids petting barn (baby cows, sheep, puppies, mice, eggs hatching) pony rides.

Trevedra Farm nr .sennen, close to the lands end peninsula but an amazing location, so worth the drive...or try the site at Rezare nr Launceston if you want proper rural but a clean site.

There is a fab C&C site at .veryan on the .roseland, ask for the top field where pitches are unmarked you can have a fire there and there is a big field behind you that is perfect for rounders, footie or just plain old running around. A games room with table tennis and laundry facilities were good. V clean showers etc.

This is a beautiful part of .cornwall often overlooked... Explore the beaches, st Anthony head lighthouse, Mevagissey or lost gardens at Heligan. Eden £££ but a great day out.

There are lovely sites at Crackington Haven, Polzeath or Widemouth on the North coast. Agree Gwithian is lovely but YY to the Boden sea. Hendra is great because it has an indoor pool with stuff going on but it is a it of a 'park' and too busy for me.

Inland I like Blisland or there is a fab one between Helston and the Lizard... The site at .coverack is gorgeous, Henry's is amazing but often booked.

SunHaven Valley at Mawgan Porth is a lovely site, great camping and 10 mins woodland walk to lovely beach. Highly recommended

We've been to Warcombe Farm near Woolacombe in Devon, that was a very nice site

And we're returning to Budemeadows near Widemouth Beach & Bude inCornwall, in a few weeks - it has a heated outdoor swimming pool!

We go with friends and have 4 under 8's between us. These campsites have good facilities and play areas, and are also near great beaches and off-site activities.

Not good with campsites but we're just back from holiday which included a week in Cornwall!

We were in Padstow which was fantastic for us (I'm disabled, otherwise we would have been camping) - if you're there, visit the Lobster Hatchery and try crabbing in the harbour. Near Launceton (which has been mentioned) there's a place called the Hidden Valley and our kids loved it (treasure hunt trails).

Eden is fantastic, and we liked the beach in St Ives but the Tate was very meh. Newquay we really didn't like, but that might have been because it was our only rainy day.

If you end up anywhere near Padstow (North Coast) and your dc are active types, get in touch with Harlyn Bay Surf School. Our dc already surf and loved it, but they also went "Coasteering" - a 2 hour coast trip involving swimming, climbing and jumping - even ds (12 and bored with everything that isn't a PS4 right now) loved it.

Have a lovely holiday. I'm currently having to persuade my crew that Glasgow has just as much to recommend it as Cornwall!

You have stayed at s e lovely sites down here hope you had fun... You had some of the best weather seen here in 10 years!!

And yes IpsynBudeMeadow is the site I was thinking of... Really lovely spot.

We live in Cornwall but we love camping at Warcombe Farm in Devon. Brilliant facilities and well placed for exploring beaches and moor.

Parkers Farm and Dornafield both in Devon.

Westfleet Farm is wonderful and tents only - but in Dorset not Devon or Cornwall.

Hope you have a wonderful time, we can't wait for our own stay there. We always take a trip on the toll road at Braunton Burrows and go for a walk on the beach at Crow Point. Parking at the main beaches can be very expensive so we tend to avoid.

Another Hendra fan here - we went last year and are going again end of August.

It is a bit like Butlins with tents, but you don't have to join in with that side of things.

The pitches are fabulous - really spacious and staff very friendly and helpful. Park as a whole and showers/loos etc very clean. Nice to have the on site pools if you want a lazy day or the weather is rubbish.

Wouldn't particularly recommend the 'restaurants' and the evening entertainment was a bit mid-eighties but really good fun in a nostalgic way and DD (nearly 10) loves it.

Back home safely and we had a brilliant time! Weather scorching hot first few days, but wet wet wet the final night so will have to re-pitch the tent (yawn). Site was lovely, thank you folks

I used to go to Warcombe Farm every year for many years up to 15 years ago with my son when he was 5 to 9 years. He used to sit outside the tent and say "when I am a man I will come on holiday to Warcombe Farm with my children."

However the reality of it is that his camping thus far this year has been Glastobbury and next week Boomtown. Hey ho, at least he has learned great camping skills. He is taking the first tent I bought 20 years ago to his festival next week. It is still going strong, but now one of five tents and a van. I love camping kit.

So hey for Warcombe Farm! The sunsets are to die for and its great to hear that it is still lovely.
