You don't need a stove. Go to a site that allows fires and have one of those outside. Putvon your thermals, drink lots of wine and go straight to bed once the fire is out. You will be toasty, especially if you take a thick duvet to sleep under.

If the site doesn't allow fires what are you doing on it it will no doubt have EHU in which case take an electric fan heater.

If you have EHU I've always found a convector heater better than a fan heater just because it is less noisy. Also take hot water bottles and use them inside your jacket when sitting around at night.

People take heaters camping?!

motherofluvlies · 15/07/2014 14:42

It's for the NorthWest coast of Ireland....it's probably more for rain than cold & warmth after being in the ocean...it takes a long time to warm up..(Irish coffees for us. )it's the children & the tent... that's my story and I,m sticking to it

We did two weeks in a bell tent in Ireland a few years ago, thankfully before children. There is not one photo from that trip with us not in full wet weather gear (except for those taken in pubs). The worst problem was the constant damp. Some form of heater for the tent would be a godsend and take no notice of Irish people when they tell you the weather is due to change tomorrow. IT NEVER DOES! (Or at least that was our experience and the reason we never gave up in favour of a B&B which is what I would do another time).

I've not camped that far north so take it back. We did Scottish islands though!
