I've lost my camping mojo!!!

After a few too many cold, wet trips last year, DH and I are REALLY struggling to find the will to go again.

We made the mistake of going a few times to a campsite with a great view but really minimal (and bloody awful) facilities. it has killed it for us!

Where is a sure fire winner to re-find our mojo?

Kids are 13,10 and 7.

Don't want pubs or evening entertainment on site, but places to visit or things to do locally within the day would be perfect.

We are looking only for weekends.

Ideally, within a few hours drive of Cardiff.

Thanks!

There are some nice sites round Saundersfoot and Tenby, but if you really want to get your mojo back, you need to go somewhere hot. Could you go for a longer camping hol, somewhere in France maybe? Their camp sites are far superior to anything I've seen in the UK. We once stayed at a site in the Dordogne and I swear you could have eaten your dinner off the floor in the toilet block, it was that clean.

That's what I'm talking about! I think you're right. we need to go AWAY away. Will they all be booked up by now for the summer hols do you think?

Can you recommend Tenby/Saudersfoot sites?

The one that has killed it for me is in Tenby Blush

Totally agree with you! DH has only been persuaded back into the camping fold by the planning of a trip to Southern France and the purchase of a new tent. Prior to that this normally mild mannered man would turn into a frenzied beast as he defended his right never to camp again :o

Tbh as well, I have camped at several very naice sites in the UK and the cost has been comparable to travel on the continent, once you factor in extortionately priced pub meals and wet weather activities.

I can't remember any Ten by/Saunders foot sites. Its been a while since we've been. I could recommend some French ones though. Google Camping Le Paridis in Dordogne, and Domaine de la Bergerie in Roquebrune sur Argens.

Fforest fields is by far the best site I have been to. Fantastic facilities.

We stayed at Well Park in Tenby a few weeks ago - has a children's playground and a burger van, nice toilets/showers. On the main road into tenby so within easy reach of folly farm/oakwood/bluestone and nice beaches.

We also like Kennexstone near Rhossilli/Llangenith for the Gower - less to do there - but great beaches if the weather is nice.

Thanks everyone.

Am going to talk to dh to see if we might be able to go away in the summer to somewhere with guaranteed sun!

Great though to have nice places virtually on our doorstep to try IF our mojo comes back!!

We stayed at Toms Field in Dorset last summer, it was fab. The toilets/showers were really clean, nice washing up area and a well stocked shop. They don't take booking though so we usually just go whenever it looks like it'll be sunny. Nearby there's corfe with a castle and a few pubs etc, and Swanage. There's also a really lovely, sandy beach at Studland Bay - it's always nice weather when we go as well! There are loads of other camp sites in the area as well.
