Hello

Can anyone answer a couple of questions about the practicalities of a 5m canvas tent ? LOVE the idea of one ... but not sure if it will be an (expensive) purchase I will later regret ...

Just a few of my (random) thoughts :

  1. Will it be embarrasingly massive for just DP, DS (currently a baby) and myself ?
  1. Will it fit in the space provided by the more 'commercial' campsites ?
  1. Has anyone without a garden got one ? Not sure where we would find the space in our flat to dry it out if it got wet ?

Thanks in advance xx

I don't know anyone who has a bell tent that regrets it, I know people who have borrowed one and wanted to go get one (or even just seen how ridiculously easy they are to out up)

It's not too big at all, though it might just be the three of you now, it will be future proof if you have more kids, or get a dog!

Re commercial camping sites, don't know I'm afraid, as we tend to camp in places that are basically fields with no set pitches.

Re drying it out, what do you do with your current tent? They all need to be dried out if taken down when wet. We used to have an outwell Hartford, that was far trickier to dry when wet, at least with the bell we could put it up in a park to dry out very easily. If we need to, we tend to hang ours over the bannister and that does the job

Go for it, you won't regret it

Thank you so much for taking the time to respond pimpf - you are right, should stop thinking about it and just go for it !

We'll just have to find a willing family member with a garden we can lay it in if it gets wet ! To be honest we've only had the problem of a wet muddy tent once before and as it was already a bit knackered we chucked it as it wasn't worth the hassle of taking it home Blush

Enjoy your own trips !!
