Campsite for a weekend where we don't have to get in a car

Family group - we were going to go to Wellington Park but it's all booked up. We went last year and it was perfect for our needs. Any ideas? Clippesby Hall and River Dart both look good, but are too far away. We are in London, inlaws are in Bristol. Noone can drive more than a couple of hours.

I have a friend who takes his kids to Haven I think, at Dawlish sands. He only takes the train.

Is that the kind of site you're after?

Do you mean a site where you can walk to places once you're there?
The site in Henley is good, you can walk into town and to the river from there. Both have enough to keep a family occupied for a couple of days.

California country Park? Don't worry, it's in Wokingham!

I've not used the site but have been to the country park.

Are The Witterings too far? www.scotts-farm-camping.co.uk/
Again you can walk into town and to the beach. You can't book but I asked once and they'd only reached capacity once. There's lots of fields they open open when needed.
