Festival trolley

Just looking into buying a pull along truck/trolley/thing to take to a festival this summer. Partly to lug our camping stuff from the car to the campsite, and partly to lug the baby and waterproofs and lunch around in the daytime.

Have seen the Kampa online for around £65. It's foldable, which is probably necessary so it fits in the car. Anyone got one? Anything else I should look for?

We have a folding trolley from Lidl

MummyPigsFatTummy · 01/05/2014 08:42

Oops posted too early. It was fab for both jobs last year. Annoyingly they just had them instore near us but they might be back again over the summer. I think it was about £40 when Dh got ours last year. You could check out lidl shops near you in case they have any left.

If you search on amazon pull along garden trolley - we want one of these. We hired one at a festival last year with padding etc for our toddler. On phone so can't link will try later.

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Large-Garden-Truck-Trolley-Utility/sim/B002BSZ7R0/2 hope that works very bulky though although the sides collapse down.

Hi mummy pig,
I have just seen the Lidl trolley wagon thing in there? Is it any good? Do you think it's sturdy enough for a 3 year and a one year, I know it's says max weight 50kg they're not that yet! Also do you think it would hold a bell tent okay? That's about 23kg. Thanks

momb · 02/05/2014 14:36

I use a sack barrow with really fat tyres. The year i used a 'proper' trolley the ground was so wet that everyone got stuck and I ended up practically dragging the tent along like a slug.

momb · 02/05/2014 14:38

I wish i'd read the OP properly. Ignore me: you can't really use a sack barrow to carry children unless you bind and mask them Hannibal Lecter style.

mummratheevertired · 02/05/2014 15:10

Oh this one looks good though - here

MummyPigsFatTummy · 03/05/2014 19:00

The Lidl one is pretty sturdy. We dragged all our stuff across a couple of muddy fields at a festival last year. We used it all weekend for a resting place for DD, then 3, and other gubbins we wanted with us. we didn't have our bell tent with us but carried a Decathlon family pop up and other heavy stuff no problem.

LadySybilLikesCake · 03/05/2014 19:03

This looks cool You can use it to transport little people when their legs get tired too.

EauRouge · 03/05/2014 20:53

I've got one of these. It goes through the mud, no problems, but it is very big and doesn't fold down so unless you have the storage space in the car then it'd be no good. The DDs love riding in it a bit too much for my liking

I was just wondering what trolleys/carts people were thinking of taking to festivals this year? I've seen a few I like the look of, but how good are they, how much weight will they hold etc? I'm planning on buying one of the 4 wheel ones as we have quite a lot of camping gear. This is the one I'm leaning towards www.filthyfox.co.uk/large-folding-festival-trolley but I'm not sure if it's more for camping stuff or if I could also sit a little person in it?!

FrozenAteMyDaughter · 30/03/2015 11:36

ExplorerMum, that trolley looks a lot like our LIDL trolley from a couple of years ago, which was significantly cheaper. Unless you have to buy really soon, I would hold off for a bit and keep an eye on LIDL and ALDI for their special buys as something like this is likely to come up again (it did last year).

FrozenAteMyDaughter · 30/03/2015 11:37

Oh, and to answer your question, those sorts of trolleys are generally good for both jobs - camping gear and small children.

littlesupersparks · 30/03/2015 11:47

I've seen a lot of the folding ones discarded and broken at the festival we go to. We got a metal garden trolley and was good for out 4yo and 2yo last year. Although it wasn't as big as some of them. If we'd had one a tad bigger it would have meant they could both sleep in it together but actually we could only do one at a time.

bedhaven · 30/03/2015 20:06

We've got a similar one to this www.amazon.co.uk/TecTake-Wagon-garden-trolley-platform/dp/B004ZKAVSW but I think ours is a bit bigger (although without the cover which I would love!). It still only just fitted a 3 & 20 month old to sleep but very comfy for pulling around and fits the bell tent. Loads of people borrowed it at EFF last year. It comes apart in panels and it's just the 2 wheels on axles that are can't be squeezed in somewhere in the car. We have had a few inner tube changes but they are just wheelbarrow ones so easily sourced. Ours could do with a new paint job for next festival and maybe some fairy lights

ExplorerMum · 09/04/2015 10:11

Thanks FrozenAteMyDaughter :) I'll definitely keep a look out at Lidl over the next few weeks. We're not in any rush to buy, so hopefully something cheaper will pop up soon!

gingeroots · 09/04/2015 13:19

kampa trolley - v similar to earlier one but bit cheaper www.amazon.co.uk/Kampa-Trucker-Trolley/dp/B00IF61YHO/ref=pd_cp_sg_0
