Hello!
Second thread, apologies...had such great advice in first. We are going with eurocamp May half term and I have narrowed it down to these 4 campsites. I dont know the area at all (last went when I was 5 years old). Ive decided on south brittany just for weather really, but if north brittany is much nicer that could be an option.
Has anyone been to any of these sites? Are there nice beaches/towns nearby? Any views on which is best?
I have 3 kids including an active 6 year old boy who loves sport.
Many thanks

Been to les deux fontaines twice and really enjoyed it, walking distance to a lovely Tahiti beach through fields and past a cider farm. Great pools, a big playing field at the back of the site and a small playground with a skate ramp. The roads around there were pretty quiet for cycling and it is an easy cycle or drive to Nevez. Toilets etc were clean and I don't remember needing to queue. The pitches were spacious and arranged in groups of four or six, separated by hedges. Not been to any of the others to compare though. I would avoid being pitched close by the pool.

Went to La Pont St Gilles when dc's were 5 and 3. We/they loved it. Nice easy stroll into Benodet which is a decent town (not especially "pretty" but a fair few shops/eateries and a good beach). The campsite was great. Good pool and play area etc. There are loads of lovely places to visit around South Brittany (Concarneau/Pont D'Avon etc sp?! Shock)

Thank you, that's really helpful. What's a tahiti beach?
It's nice to have some positive reviews- for some reason trip advisor reviews for la pointe are terrible, complaining about compulsory wristband wearing and a teeny pool

metarie is big and lovely with gorgeous pool and right by the menhirs.
You have to drive to get to the beach and resort though which puts me off going to be honest.

We went to La Grande Metairie a few years ago, although slightly out of season as DD wasn't yet at school.

Plus points: great pool, quite good restaurant, good playgrounds and bike hire, good and uncrowded beaches 10/15 min down the road and some lovely trips if you want to go a bit further as well.

Minus points: we had some trouble with noise but they did move us. There are definitely quieter bits and noisier bits. Oh, and the weather for us at the start of Sept was great, but it had poured solidly for the ten days beforehand.

Tillyscoutsmum · 30/04/2014 16:50

I don't recall the wristbands but tbh, it's not something that would bother me to the point of moaning on trip advisor about it Wink
There wasn't a large "swimming" pool. It was a few smaller pools linked together (together with slides/rapids etc). It suited my young dc's but I can see his older children who adults who wanted to swim length after length would find it small. It did get busy on occasion but we we were there in august and the weather was a bit hit & miss, so there were a fair few there on sunny days. There was still always somewhere to sit/lie though. The restaurant wasn't great iirc but you're close enough to Benodet for it not to be an issue IMHO. We BBQ'd a lot, had the odd take out and ate out a fair bit.

Sorry for typo, meant a lovely beach which they call Tahiti beach rather than "a Tahiti beach", which didn't make any sense Smile

Thank you all!! I am going round in circles! I fancy la grand Metairie as its a bit further south and my 6 year old would love the kids club for a few hours. I do want to be in the really pretty part of brittany so we can sightsee if the weather is terrible.
The only thing that puts me off GM is that it's mostly mobiles- is it a bit soulless? I'm presuming a tent in may would be freezing...

Actually, it wasn't too soulless. The site is divided up into different areas, so it never felt too huge, and each pitch is divided from the other by hedges and there is plenty of greenery.

Thanks, sounds good!
