We need a very lightweight tent without bells and whistles, just for sleeping in, when hiking through the mountains. It needs to be easy to put up and down, with mosquito net, naturally.

Any ideas?

Actually, we could do two tents, if pushed. Maybe the kids would love their own tent (they will be 12 and 9)

Generally the very lightweight backpacking tents are 2 person, aren't they? And typically more expensive than other tents.

We have this... Teepee tent

I bought it last summer in the sale as an extra tent & we love it. Its surprisingly small & light when packed up, much more so than our much smaller dome tent. Its huge when up, easily takes 2 double mattresses with lots more room to spare & my 6'5" husband can stand up in it - highly recommend it

Are you backpacking, i.e. do you need to carry the tent/s? Are you in the UK or somewhere with better weather?

I would look at the Go Outdoors lightweight tent section (visit in person if possible) and choose a couple of Vango's - maybe one slightly bigger than the other as I guess you will be doing the cooking in one.

Wild country tents are good value light but techincal backpacking tents.

We will be backpacking and carrying the tent, walking around 15-20 km daily, and wild camping. We wont cook inside, only using bonfires outside, to save carrying too much gear. For cooking we will use aluminum foil, and one pot for boiling in. The tent must therefore be extremely lightweight, and easy to pitch.

Oh, I forgot, not warmer than the UK, i think the temperature is more like Scotland in September.
