Hi
we love camping, have a fab tent but big,, do fairy shites, glamping etc BUT we are going to a festival for the first time, our car isn't near the site and we are looking to sniff. ... Simplify things a bit. Single ring stove,,,,,smaller tent( but will still be taking fairy lights )and wine !
. Any advice for a family tent round about 100.00 that will be quick and easy to put up so it's not all about the tent ( sorry guys)

Are you going as a family?

Our festival tent is a 4 man/2 bedroom tunnel tent which has a living area/porch (ours is a Coleman, but similar to this one:
www.millets.co.uk/equipment/112910-eurohike-buckingham-4-man-tent-green-0.html )

I know you want cheap and lightweight, but with 2 kids, we like a bit of living room too, in case of rainy mornings (and space for night-time toilet bucket!).

Hi, yes dh and dd 7,ds 5 .
Really don't want to stretch to 140, tho it does look like, a fab tent.
Of course the the weather will be sunny skies and at least 65 f everyday (hopeful) . Have only just persuaded dh that we shouldn't be taking our lovely big tent for just 2 days......

Haha, yes of course (I'd better not mention that we've only been to one dry festival in living memory!!).

I'm sure you can find something with a bit of living space in your budget if you don't need a separate room for the kids. Mine are 13 and 15, so really don't want to share a bedroom with us!

I bought this one last year - Hi-Gear Rock 5 from Go Outdoors - for about £120. It doesn't seem to be in stock at the moment, but I'm sure they will have a similar one before the summer.

It has two bedrooms, and was perfect for four of us (me, DD 10 and two hulking great teenage boys) at a festival last year - very easy to put up (in the dark and in the rain) with plenty of space inside, and tall enough to stand up in, unlike my last festival tent.

What about one of these from Decathlon? None of them are pop up unfortunately but that will make them more compact to carry and none of them look too difficult to put up and are all under 100:

Strangely enough have just been eyeing up both those styles. Reassuring to know that the will be fine. Thanks guys, just want to have great time and not be faring about with taking ages to pack stuff away or spend time unpacking and packing this time.

That bottom Arpenaz tent is similar to ours (but without the separate bedroom). It looks a good price too.

Hotbot....the large living area might be useful to shade your los from the blazing sunshine Wink .

Ha ha ...ok I may also be packing ponchos !!!

I am currently looking at the Gelert Cabana 4.

May be a bit over your budget as it retails for about £150 (depending where you look) but it's tepee style so only one pole and then pegs to put it up, it's got a big living space as well as a bedroom that can be split in 2 with a curtain and it's tall enough to stand up in.

It also looks festivally....... Wink

mistyegg · 06/04/2014 21:42

How about this one from Halfords for a cheap and cheerful tent? It seems to have some good reviews.

exexpat · 06/04/2014 21:51

My previous festival tent was very similar to the one mistyegg just posted - also really cheap (about £90 in a set with sleeping bags, lilos and a few other things), and worked well when the DCs were smaller. The only thing I really didn't like is that you can't stand up anywhere inside, and the living area is really just big enough for storage, not really for sitting/eating. But at a festival that won't matter a lot of the time as you mainly just go back to the tent to sleep.
