am a LP and dd will be 6 in the summer. whilst a confident driver I will be the only adult.

quite fancy northern France... any recommendations? not more than 2 hours from a crossing point. and can anyone strongly recommend a site.

also my French is crap (can speak a bit of Spanish).

or should I just do Suffolk.

spent 6 hours driving to Cornwall last year and won't be doing that again.

We are doing both. A week at la croix du vieux pont at beginning of hol - 90 mins from Calais followed by a week in Suffolk mid hol. French site brill. I do speak french but all staff speak immaculate english. Also temps a bit higher than uk so lovely warm eves.

can you link to the site please? Smile

do you think I will be ok driving as the only adult?? never driven my own car overseas before only ever had a hire car.

Not sure where you live, but would you consider Portsmouth/St Malo crossing? This opens up northern Brittany and Normandy or you could cross to Caen for Normandy. You probably will not need to go on a toll road. These are largely avoidable if you do not go too far from the ports and travel along the coast. I think starting from Calais usually ends up with too much driving to get somewhere pleasant as that area is industrial. I think you will get better weather in France and more of a change of scene. Sandy beaches in France are also a plus. Not against Suffolk though!

alex-Looking at la croix du vieux.

milmolman-Will investigate the St Malo crossing (have done that one before when I wasn't single), seem to remember it was a good one.

supertrooper - let me know what you find/planning. ALways good to get ideas
