Had good experiences in all the ones around Shanklin. Some are quiet and some are like holiday camps with night clubs, pools etc. All are clean and well run. Can't remember their names unfortunately but as I said all are good and I'd be happy to book which ever comes up first on campsiteuk.

Scoobydooooo · 23/07/2006 10:09

Thanks for that maggi, we dont want nightlcubs pools & all that, we are just looking for basic with showers, toilets, shop we have found one which is in Ryde but still looking to see if there was any recommendations.

Scoobydooooo · 24/07/2006 11:02

Hi Bresha,

We have now booked our holiday before i saw your message, we did book our ferries through red funnel & it was a v good price it was £85 that was for 2 adults 2 infants & a car.

We have also booked into the Grange Farm brighstone bay camping site do you know what this is like? It is right on a beach & looks nice?

Sparkler1 have you found anything yet?

im not sure if iv been to Grange Farm but i have stayed at one near brighstone and it was lovely, i live about 20 mines from brighstone, cute little village there
how long are you staying for?
there is a really nice adventure park thing near there called
blackgangchine
my 2 love it there
£85 for the ferry?
Well that explains why we cant go camping on the mainland
We are going to Manchester in a few weeks and we booked the ferry and it was £61 and I thought that was 2 much

Scoobydooooo · 24/07/2006 17:03

Thanks for getting back to me & thanks for the link.

the ferry was £85 which we thought was good because our 1st quotes were £120 & we really did not want to pay that.

We are staying for 7 nights just hoping the weather will be nice whats the weather like at the moment in the isle of wight?

Thansk for the help & info its so good to get some advice form someone that lives there you it looks like a gorgeous island to live on.

Hi scooby - we have just returned from Grange Farm Brightstone and it was great. Good shop on site and Mace in village (3 mins drive)Basic loos and showers but lots of them.(Mooncup ads in all the cubicles made me think a Mums Netter must have been about.) Laundry room and even a bath (cost £1.00). Beach is lovely, steep path down to it so hard work pushing a pushchair back up. My boys loved boogy boarding and we found lots of fossils. Was v. busy when we left on Sun.

Lovely tea shop and pub in village too.

Has a farmyard with goats and Llamas. Also guinea pigs and rabbits, although the campsite lady phoned us this evening as 2 had been nicked!!

Kids loved playground - quite rickety but refreshingly unsanitised!

We went to Robin Hill which was brilliant - even when hot as lots of the activities are in the cool of the woods.

On Thursday eves the steam railway does a fish and chips eve. You can buy fish and chips in the cafe and eat it on the train - kids loved it.

Fireworks at needles every thurs night in Aug.

Hope the weather stays good for you - have fun

Scoobydooooo · 25/07/2006 09:24

Wow thanks Tallmummy so glad to hear from someone that has been there it sounds just what we are looking for.

Just a couple of questions, was the campsite full up & were you able to get yourself a nice pitch?

Also is the cliff edge safe, like is there a fence etc? i am a bit worried about ds 4!

My sisters Dd loves body boarding so she will be over the moon, thats why we choose to be near the beach.

The campsite was very full when we left on Sunday but they were only using 2 of the 3 fields so there was a whole empty field. We were with friends so had 3 maxi pitches in the NW corner of the middle field. I didn't go in the field nearest the sea but could see it was well fenced though so difficult for LOs to get near cliff - not a sheer drop anyway - just a steep grassy, rocky edge.

We had such a good time we had 9 kids between us aged from 7 weeks to 6 years and they all had fun. Lot's of kids on site to play with too.

Scoobydooooo · 25/07/2006 14:21

Thanks for all the info Tallmummy just wanted i needed, its good to hear from someone that has already been there.
