Scooby, we have the gelert tahoma which exactly matches your spec and would recommend it many times over. If you are going for a big tent, I would really suggest considering it, it's exactly the same to look at as a Diabolo but about a metre smaller (as I discovered a few minutes ago).

Alternatively the Indus by Wynnster, as it is a fly first pitcher- great in bad weather.

The only breief thing I would say is consider that we are finding it increasingly ahrder to get pitches for our tent, as more and more have limited pitch sizes. If you do want a big one though, definitely consider the Tahoma- we don't regret it, we're just adding a weekend tent as and when we can afford it.

oops tahoma

I recommend the outwell hartfor range, sorry can't do links.
I have the hartford xxl-it's one huge tent with masses of room.
sorry can't do links otherwise I would have done one.

Sorry i went to bed last night, i have looked at the gelert Tahoma & am v interested in that one i will have to show dp, can ui just ask do you get a sewn in sheet throughout this?

I also looked at the outwell hartford tent which looks really good is well but the XXL is way to big for us But the XL is more of a better size if we could do without the 3rd bedroom compartment, which we could because there is only me,dp, ds who is 4 & dd who is 6 months, but i wanted the extra room mainly for clothes & dd's things & also if say family wanted to come along too.

Blimey this tent thing is harder than a i thought.

On both of these tents is thematerial top quality & v reliable?

Thanks for helping, i will be needing help on whats the best, cooker, kettle &all sorts next

We got our Tahoma here, or rather last years colours on ebay brand new from here . here and they are very good. E-Bay often have them brand new though from reputable dealers, just in last years coloirs. Um, not exactly the biggest of issues LOL!

I can't answer for the Hartford as never had one, though not heard a bad word either. There's virtudally nothing to choose netween the Xl and tahoma anyway, iirc? The Tahoma is fab quality in our experience, everything seems A1.

It's a popular shape, so how I would play it is to also look at the Vango Diablo 600 and then shop around for prices. TBH, you're unlikely to get an issue with any of these three main popular brands, it's when you go for something less reputable you get issues.

What's your budget? I saw the (I think XL or similar) with a full kit for £509, which was reasonable as everything you need was included and it was all good names. otherwise, shop around, consider all options and you will get yourself a good deal. I will find the start up kit and get back to you

(oh yes, the SIg is everywhere except the porch area, which is fone in our experience as it allows us to 'collapse' it a little if space requires, the groundsheet for the porch is provided and is a pin down one.

Sorry have not been back earlier i have been quite busy.

thanks for all this information peacyclair, dp has been looking at all the tents & he seems to like the Outwell hartford XL, we are going to go to a place at the weekend that has all tents up on there premises so you can go in them etc etc.

We have now decided to book a weeks camping holiday so will start a thread soon with any recommendations, not sure where yet but not to far from us & we are in surrey so about 2hrs journey max.

If you have any recommendations please let me know, only thing we want is to be nr a beach.
