Have decided to do our first camp of the year and have booked Pear Tree campsite in Poole for this weekend - yes that means tomorrow.

We've only camped a few times, so not fully seasoned campers yet, but we are hoping now that the children are out of baby mode ie. 6, 4 1/2 & 3 1/2 it should be even more fun.

Anyone got any feedback on this campsite and anyone any top tips on things to take apart from the obvious?

Sorry not been here but on the uk campsite the reviews read well - sorry I'm no good at doing links! - enjoy you're weekend.

We've got it booked for the second week in August so I'll be really interested to hear your review!

It seems like our kind of site and the reviews are excellent.

What obvious things have you got?

Lucy - will report back on Monday.

Have got all the usual stuff ie. tent, beds, sleeping bags, kitchen/food stuff. Just wondering about those little things that you wish you'd remembered or thought of yourself.

Have you got 's' hooks, great for hanging stuff off all the loops inside the tent. You can bend tent pegs to the right shape!

Lucycampcat - got back from Pear Tree yesterday and loved it, in fact we booked a week from 19th August.

Don't know how old your LO's are, but ours are nearly 7 (in fact it'll be her birthday when we go there) 4 and 3. They all enjoyed it especially the play park, which is one of the best I've seen on a campsite. Big section for ball games, football etc and then a good range of play equipment from baby swings/toddler climbling/sandpit to bigger swings, large garden drafts, but most importantly as far as mine where concerned two large trampolines. It is all clearly signposted only for 12 and under, no teenagers, which for us was reassuring, but I guess if your's are older would be a bit tough.

The only slight downside was that the play park was at the front of the site, so not visible from the pitches, although no danger of getting onto the road as a large hedge. They say that children are the responsibility of the adults and that an adult should be in attendance if they are under 8. However there is also CCTV on the playpark. We started off going with them, but they soon made friends with some other children and wanted to go off alone, so with the proviso they stuck together and looked out for the little ones I'm afraid we let them go. There were others without parents in attendance, so we were not the only ones and had no problems.

The site is very well run, lots of slightly officious signs, loos/showers great and shop was small, but had the basics. The staff were very friendly and printed out directions to Tesco's for us and gave advice for which beech to go to etc.

We went to studland bay, which was wonderful - it's National Trust owned so parking is a bit pricey, but luckily for us we're members so didn't have to pay £6 I think.

There's lots to do in the area, so I think you'd have options if it's a bit rainy.

Honestly I think you'd have a great time.

Do you know your pitch number - I've got a map still in the car and could let you know if it's a good one.

Huge thanks for that glassofwine! - ace reviewer!!

It was just what I wanted to hear! My dd's are 6 and 3 so the park sounds ideal for them and I actually prefer it if we can't see the park from our pitch, less constant nagging to go there!

I like bossy campsites we are pitch number 125, we've had a look at the map on their website but it's not very clear.

We are also NT members so actively look for their beaches so we don't have to pay for the car park.

We're there week beginning 5th August as we're across near Lyme Regis for the week before, can't wait now - just hope this fantastic weather continues

Your pitch is where the tents where and from memory some shade. There were some parts with a mix of tents and caravans, I prefer it if it's all tents together, but I think you're ok there.

Hope you enjoy, if you find any particularly good places to go or eat let me know as our children are similar ages.
