We're off to the Loire Valley next week and I was hoping for some hints and tips. Clothing for day is sorted, but what will the temperature be at night for sleeping? Should I still take full length PJ's for DD's? We have SIM's and double sleeping bags - will I need any extra coverage? Duvets/blankets?

My other question is mozzie's - there's a lake on our site and if we land a pitch right next to it, I want to be prepared! I have Smidge and I'll take something with Deet, but I've just bought a spray bottle from Home Bargains and quite fancy making my own stuff from essential oils that I can air spray, or even spray onto us for extra protection. Any recipe's that work?

I've yet to buy a little unit to hold our stove, so any suggestions would be great too.

Thanks!

Avon Skin So Soft apparently works miracles against mozzies. Also basil plants ward them off too. We have a Vango cupboard/stove table which is excellent. Will post link later. Check the 10 day forecast to get an idea of night time temp. We are going to the dordogne in Aug and plan to have only cotton sleeping bags for the kids and a duvet for us. Bon Voyage!

Just come back from a weekend camp and saw that some people had a large pot of basil on their table - initially thought they were being extra glampy, but turns out basil is a herb that repels mozzies. Am going to try it in a few weeks in the UK, but not sure it will be effective enough for the continental bugs! Looks nice though!
