French Pyrenees....campsite?

Can anybody recommend good campsites in the Pyrenees?
We have a 5 and a 3 year old who are both use to camping, although they prefer to have at least a play area on the site. Grin We are planning on driving down from St Malo (midweek) and staying around the area for about 3 weeks.
Thanks

You don't say whereabouts in the Pyrenees you want to go but we really like the Flower Campsite in Loudenvielle. There's a little playground in the middle of the sitfree wifi at reception and the toilets and showers are the cleanest I've ever seen on a French campsite.

The village is nice but very small but there are loads of well signposted walks around the area (and colour coded like skiing pistes so you know what you're letting yourself in for). There are also loads of opportunities for bike riding too if you're that way inclined.

There's also an outdoor soft play, outdoor water park, acro-branch tree assault course things, pony hire and a spa centre (children are only allowed in the main pool of that though) really close by as well as boat hire on the nearby lake.

There's definitely enough to keep you going for at least a week and if you plan in some day trips I reckon you could stay for 3 weeks easily without getting bored.

I fancy visiting Pau and my dh has it in his head that he is going to cycle up the Col du Tourmalet with my ds on the tag along, just so he can say when older 'I did that when I was 5 years old!' (when watching the Tour de France).
We're open to all / any ideas as we are not definite on an area but Loudenville sounds good.

Loudenveille would be a good base for you then. There are a few smaller cols around the area too if your DH is into that sort of thing (mine is too, don't see the attraction myself).

A friend of mine went to do Tourmalet - he said he got about half way up before feeling like he was going to have a heart attack so waited until no-one was coming then turned around! He said all the way down he was getting cars honking at him with thumbs up, he felt a right fraud Grin And so he should!

Lol! Shan't tell dh about your friend, don't want to plant ideas although I think my son would probably snitch. Grin
I shall definately look into the Flower campsite and start planning our driving route and stop overs.
Thanks.

Grin

BTW Flower is the name of the group the campsite belongs to. If you google Loudenvielle camping it should come up - you can book a pitch directly through the website. Wherever you do decide to go you'd better do it sooner rather than later though as the French holiday season starts in earnest from the 14th.
