Campsites in Cornwall

We're planning our summer camping trips to Cornwall (dh is a teacher and I'm a SAHM so lovely long hols together Grin ) and wondered if anyone has any suggestions for new sites... we usually head to the Padstow area and generally like the cheaper, quieter sites that you can't find online. I know there are dozens but I always forget to write down phone numbers when we drive past them!

Our favourite is Berryfields in Porthcothan, but we'd like to try some new places, and would love somewhere that allows campfires. Coastal is good, but the kids also love the idea of camping in/near woodland - after a weekend of bushcraft (ie making bows and arrows) at a local activity centre they seem to think they are the Merry Men reborn.

In terms of facilities, a loo, hot shower, tap for drinking water and, preferably, an ice-pack exchange are all we want. Would need to be dog-friendly as well.

Thank you in advance!

We are going to Noongallas near Penzance. Haven't been there but research suggests it is the wilder sort of campsite with campfires, an adjacent beautiful woodland and stream and a generally laid back camping syle. You don't seem to able to book though, just rock up!

We went to Trevaskis just outside Hayle, which was lovely and also Kelynack which is near to the Lands End Airport but the planes aren't a bother. Both are lovely and we can't wait to go back.

There's a very nice campsite just south of Rock which is as you say not online. It's got a farm name, which I can't remember at the moment. Dogs welcome, very informal (you can't book, just turn up), cheap (was £12/night for 5 of us + 2 dogs when we went last year). Very good views over the estuary. Has loo, hot shower (need 20p coins) and everything you'd need. If it sounds good to you I can find out the name and location for you.

I can find it online on Google but can't remember the name. Basically if you get Rock up on Google maps, it's bout 1.5 miles south of Rock, on a road heading south, where there's a little circle of road around a farm. Sorry that's a bit useless. You can't book tehre anyway.

I mean I could find it in maps, but not the contact details.

Don't know any particular campsites, but the areas you may be interested in:
Porthcurno
Kynance cove
St Ives
Zennor
Tehidy
Hope you find somewhere nice

This article might be handy. Some cheap ones in there.

ooh, lovely, thank you all. I always feel a bit nervous not being able to book (after a 5 hour drive I want to know we've somewhere to stay!), but if I can pull together a list of choices even if 1 or 2 are full there's bound to be a space somewhere!

duchesse I've had a look on google maps, is it Porthilly? That seems to fit your description? looks like it has caravans as well as camping? I might not be looking in the right place though!
