Where in the Dordogne (or near there)?

Although we are regular campers we are still looking for our "perfect" campsite in France and would appreciate some help.
We have 2 children (4&2) who are very active and run around a lot. We are looking for a heated swimming pool (preferably with a slide suitable for LOs) but not a water park, a playground or equivalent, a cafe/pizza place onsite and lots of space for the kids to run around whilst we watch from outside our tent. We are also very sociable and like to meet our neighbours for a chat and a shared beer. Therefore we find the types of campsite where each pitch is surrounded by a 6 foot hedge quite claustrophobic and impossible to keep the children amused. However large trees etc for shade would be appreciated as we are all pale skinned.
We are hoping to camp for the last week of the summer holidays (24th onwards) and would like to guarantee sun as much as possible.

Anyone got any suggestions please?

We are going to www.lesvalades.com/EN/ which might be a bit spread out and vast for your needs (also has a lake which might not suit you with very little ones) but this was the other one we looked at www.mathevies.com which looks lovely.

They both look very good. The lake looks great fun for older kids - mine are water bunnies but a lake might be a bit much. ;) I love the idea of the comfort pitches with your own loo - great for young children.

Thanks for the suggestions. Anyone else?

Hillbilly mentioned Domaine de Mathevies, which we visited last September. Our DD was 2.5 years then and I think it would be ideal for you, particularly in the holidays when there might be other little ones about (there weren't too many children when we were there in September).

There is a small adult pool and separate toddler pool (although I am not sure they are heated), a playground which you can see from the restaurant/bar or your tent if you are pitched in that area, an indoor playroom for little ones and once a week they have a campfire for the whole site.

While we were there, the owners took their young children pony trekking and invited those of us with young children also to go. it was a really lovely afternoon so worth asking about pony trekking if you like that sort of thing. Sarlat is nearby and there is plenty to do in the area.

Quenelle recommended it to us and I would definitely go back. Your only problem might be getting booked as it is popular.

We've sent a request on their online booking. :)

And they're full! :(
But plus is that they got back to us within an hour.

Any other ideas out there.

We are a family of 5 ( kids 9,6,4) We stayed here for a week last year le-paradis.fr/ and going back this year for two! Had such a good time.
Nice size not hectic, kids met others, small bar / cafe, shop, canoeing on site. Perfect.

If you are looking for a class campsite in the Dordogne i would suggest Le Moulinal at Biron. This is a privately owned and run 5 star site and it is simply the best i have ever been to. Set around a lake, with a gorgeous pool oveerlooking the lake and valley it is perfect. The restaurant on site is so good that locals eat here all the time. The site is about 1/2 mile from the very imposing Chateau Biron and very convenient for the whole area.

we have stayed at camping capeyrou and loved it. There are hedges, but you are not hemmed in (the hedges are more for shade). You can river swim (ds was 2.5 when we went and even he did with arm bands as it is very gentle) or there is a pool (not sure about slides though)
