about this tent - Jamet Roma 4 Tunnel Tent - seen it in Outdoor Megastore for £175.
there is 3 of us - it looks quite spacious and like there would be no problems standing upright in it. Any thoughts or opinions either way on this make/model? (tried to do a link but failed)

We love Eureka tents...

Will try to find a link. Will you be camping in the summer only? I ask because it is harder to stay warm in a huge tent with only 3 people.

TwoToTango · 31/05/2006 17:35

The factory seconds ones look like bargains - what does factory seconds mean? would there be rips in it?

I'm totally loved up about my new tunnel tent. We had our first exped in it at the weekend and it was fab. Can't wait till the next one in 3 weeks' time. We've got one of \link{http://www.springfield-camping.co.uk/brands/SunnCamp/Family+Vario+900\these}. We can use it as a 5 berth without the pods either side, or as a 9 berth. We've got more bedrooms in our tent than in our house!! It does have a huge living space and with the extra bedrooms it means that we have somewhere to put all our clobber - wetsuits, boards, cricket set, you name it we take it on holiday.

Fab tent - I reckon its almost as big as my house! How long does it take to put up?

OP posts:
Surfermum · 31/05/2006 18:06

It probably took an hour, although I didn't really check. And we had to get it out of the box as it hadn't even been opened. Plus my friends helped me put it up and they'd never seen it erect! I think it'll be a lot quicker next time now we know what we're doing.

I liked the living area as it has windows and skylights, so it's really bright. We looked at loads of tents before choosing and lots of others felt claustrophobic and I wouldn't want to be in them if it rained all week.

peachyClair · 31/05/2006 18:06

I'd be wary of a second though I suspect it would be usable- has to be I think. We got it (\link{http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/chatter/gallimages/large_66888_1.jpg\here at the weekend- isn't she lovely?} on ebay brand new from a named trader, but just had last years colours- meant we got it for £190 including postage, which isn't bad.

TwoToTango · 31/05/2006 18:22

Thats lovely peachyclair - I really like that type - we can't decide between that sort and a tunnel one - going to look at some at the weekend. Think I will probably avoid buying a second.

We have the Gelert Tahoma, snap to the Vango but loads cheaper. he he he.

TwoToTango · 31/05/2006 18:25

Cadmum - definately only summer camping. Good point about keeping warm I wouldn't have thought of that although I try to go to places with elec hook ups so I can take an elec heater (not really diehard campers in this house are we)

Have you tried searching on uk campsites? if anyone there has tried it you can find out what they thought with the search facility on message boards. \link{http://www.ukcampsite.co.uk/\here}

TwoToTango · 01/06/2006 19:01

Thank you peachyclair I will try that now.

Nah! Get the Outwell Hartford L for a few quid more from same place. £199 and that's what we are getting. You get a free dorrmat you see

TwoToTango · 02/06/2006 08:36

nannyme that is a great tent (love the doormat :o)
That is the type of tent I prefer - dp prefers the tunnel ones he reckons they are easier to put up. My knowledge of putting a tent up is zero so its one battle I expect to lose!

OP posts:
peachyClair · 02/06/2006 13:20

tunnels no easier than domes to put up, we have owned both. The proaction last year took exactlys ame amount of time as this years gelert tahoma. Same basic principles anyway.

TwoToTango · 02/06/2006 14:33

he reckons they are easier because they have less poles.

OP posts:
peachyClair · 02/06/2006 16:11

Now, that depends on the tent!

Try this site- they have loads cheap, we bought our tahoma there and they were fab. I've only looked at the Gelert tent page, but they offer quite sizeable discounts! \link{http://www.essexcamping.com/\here}

Hi all

Hey twototango did you ever buy the Jamet Roma tunnel tent? or did any one else? whats it like?

cheers Nat

TwoToTango · 08/08/2007 19:04

no we didn't nat100 but I wish we had! we bought this one which we were not v impressed with. If we buy another one I would go for the Jamet Roma or one like this from Argos. We have got a small version of the Proaction one we use for just 1 night stays and it is great - easy to put up. HTH
