We're off to this site with Canvas at the start of June. Anyone else been there? Good points? Annoyances? Tips?

Wow a blast from the past, I went there with my parents in 1982! bet it's rather bigger now!

\link{http://www.holidaywatchdog.com/12515-Eurocamp_Loire-Fierbois_Holiday_Park-Holiday-Review.html\here is one review} of the park. It's in a gorgeous area of france though, I loved the chateaux, especially Chenonceaux, Villandry (fab gardens), Azay le Rideau and Usse (the sleeping beauty castle!)

am very envious, we're probably going to stay \link{http://www.theloirevalley.com/content/default.asp\here} next year which isn't too far from St Catherine.

We've been, with Canvas as well, two years ago.We really liked it - it's the sort of site that doesn't feel as big as it is, if you know what I mean. The toilets and showers are good and clean, plenty of hot water(if you're in a tent. ) There are two pools - one outdoor with slides - which my kids loved, and an indoor next to the lake - we didn't use this much - we went start of June as well and the weather was fantastic. You can swim in the lake as well, but it was a bit murky with lots of teeny frogs and I didn't fancy it much. You can hire gokarts/bikes for the kids, if they're old enough, which is great fun. While we were there they showed kids' films in the evenings - usually in English with French subtitles, which was really nice to while away a bit of the evening. Not so good points - the play areas aren't fantastic - no swings and only really suitable for younger children, and the shop was a bit sparsely stocked when we were there. It was also quite "British" with all the tour operators there - depends what you like, I suppose.

We really enjoyed the chateau at Loches, which is near, and the Pagoda near Amboise. Amboise itself is a lovely town on the Loire and also worth a visit. We would do a half day outing and then come back so my ds2 could go to the kids' club.
Funnily enough, Lucycat, we're going to stay at La Touche this year, 10 days in August, in our own tent! I'll let you know what it's like!

Thanks littleshebear and Lucycat, it sounds like we've picked a good one. We went to the Loire last year with Canvas but were at the other end of the valley. We really enjoyed ourselves and saw the local chateaux, but there was so much more we didn't get to that we thought we'd go again. Chenonceaux definitely on the list, and your other ideas sound good too. Definitely counting down the days now!
