French campsites off the beaten track? Any ideas?

We are going to travel around France with a tent and three children in July. We are taking the ferry to Calais and don't want to drive for days and days. Can anyone recommend a campsite near the sea and preferably not packed full of tour companies. We really want something rustic. Any advise appreciated. Thanks very much.

About 15 minutes from the coast, set in beautiful trees, wonderful faded elegance of the chateau. About 200 pitches, nice and quiet

I can give you the weeks to avoid when all the little Marianbishops will be there!

Keycamp do have a few vans there but that is about it. They have a few chalets (which you can book direct with the owners) but mostly is is filled by independent travelers. They do run a few discos, a moule frite night, but it is all rather low key. They are strict about the silent hours of 11 pm to 7 pm. We went there 2 years ago and will be back this year. Pools are small but fine. Sandy park for the kids. Ours loved it.

I just looked at the website and it looks great. Not all singing dancing swimming bonanzas which I think look a bit inimidating! It looks low key and the kind of place we are looking for. Like the fact that it is quiet at night. The only problem would be keeping my kids quiet until 7am!

Just hopeing it is as nice as we remember it. They have added the courts and a small pitch and put course. You can borrow cannoes to go out on the lakes, or fish on them. The pools are small enough that our kids (9 and 6) can go in them and we can supervise them from the side...not possible in the big pool complexes..

Oh and we keep our two up later at night....they enjoy running round the campsite and they sleep in. Plus we keep them on UK time. Mine normaly get up at 6 which is 7 french time
