Hi we are thinking of camping in the Lakes next weekend with our 5 month old. Do you think it will be too cold or am I being a complete wimp? Any seasoned campers out there with tips?

It is still quite chilly in the lakes, but very dry. The last 2 nights have also been quite windy.
I would say have a look at the forcast the day before and be flexible.. \link{http://www.bbc.co.uk/weather/5day.shtml?id=1386&links\lakes weather}

Thanks for the link. I will keep my eye on the forcast and decide at the last minute. Cheers

I would say if night temps drop below about 10 degrees don't do it, not with a baby anyway. We camp alot but once it goes below ten at night it can be pretty miserable, particulalry if you haven't got a nice warm day to warm the tent up!

hi i went camping last year with our 1.5yr old. It can be cold at night and the problem with him was that he managed to move around the tent out of his sleeping bag(the cosy from his pram) so he got cold. i was awake all night trying to keep him in and warm. We eventually bought a sencond sleeping bag so that i was with him in a double and his daddy in his own sleeping bag. i would recommend extra sleeping bags and duvets to pad the ground. we had a great time and he absolutely loved it. We had previously taken him camping when he was about 7 months old but it was summer and outh england so v hot. Again at night he tended to move around the tent and be fasenated buy the tent, but if yours is only 5 mnths old he'll not move that much yet. We had a great time - take a portable high chair or someting that he can sit in so that you don't have to hold him/her all the time and have loads of fun - at athat age they don't care where they are or how long they are in the car for - we did a long wekend car trip round north and west scotland.

Just to update. We decided to go for it and it was great. DS slept like a dream and was toasty warm in his sleeping bag. I however drank too much rum and felt awful on sunday!! Thanks for the advice.
