Anyone own a Lunar Quasar 4, 5, or 6 berth?

Hi there. We currently have a small pop up caravan which was fine for a couple but now have a DS and would like a 2nd child. We would like to upgrade our van but we are limited with towing weight. I loved the Coachman's but they are just too heavy.

The Luna Quasars seem much lighter and we could (I think) even manage a 6berth although a 4 or 5 would be fine. I would like the children's area at the end and a central toilet with a seperate shower cubicle. I know nothing about this make of caravan. Please share your experiences and comments good and bad if you have knowledge of this van. Much appreciated. Caravan buying is so daunting!

Yes, I'm looking at a bailey carolina which is top of the range which is 6 berth however we would with plant and trailers on a daily basis and hubby wants a twin axle to have more control.

I currently have central bathroom and end bedroom which is 5 berth. Avondale Dart (very lightweight) Its perfect for 2 children however now the boys are getting bigger and we plan to travel further we need a bigger van. We have a big bimmer hence no problems with towing.

I've seen the Luna, very nice but I wanted a higher spec but weight is a massive consideration especially when laden. I agree central bathroom is best as you dont want to waste space with a big bathroom as we only use it for the loo anyway. Having the children tucked into the end with space is better. No sure what layout you want either fixed bunk or make up beds. I'm also not keen on having the door opening directly on bunks or having seating against my back of the cooker so that limits the style.

It would also depend on your budget, loads on ebay have awnings and accessories thrown in and saves a fortune. The budget will set the max age of the van and obviously with technology the vans have lighter chassis but this isnt the same case with older vans so be careful there.

This is whats on e-bay at moment worth considering:

Most of the modern bands have a lighter selection like swift challenger etc but again depends on budget.

My budget is around £10k - so my age is 2005 - 2009.

I have a Lunar ultima 615 which is a 6 berth, I do not tow it, it is sited all season but it really is a fab van. The beds at the back have a sliding door so kids basically have their own bedroom and the side bathroom is great as it doesnt take up much room. I actually work with caravans so its a bit of a busmans holiday for me haha. I would always be careful buying a caravan off ebay we often get called out to damp repairs when ebay sellers have stated the van has no damp and then the van has been damp through.
I only have a fleetwood 6 berth 2008 and an Abbey GTS vogue 215 2 berth for sale at the minute but if I hear of any luna quasars going for sale I will let you know :)

ou this is great. Thank you. I will get researching now. I'm thinking about £10,000 but not to sure yet. A 4 berth should also be fine. :)

AngelWreakinHavoc how much does it cost to site a van?
Am liking the Bailey vans and the LunarQuasar. Not sure if can justify a brand new brand new van when they loose their value so quickly. Very nice though.

Our pop up caravan does not have problems getting damp. I am a little concerned about ruining a new van with damp. The Bailey vans now use plastic in their structure but I have read a few poor reviews about towing them and not feeling safe. Anyone got any experience of this? Thanks.
