Hi Mum2Fergus, I was on the other thread. I suggest you go to UK campsites and search their talk forums-loads of threads about Camplets. If you live near Manchester Camperlands is the place to see them. If near Hemel Hempstead then there's a second hand dealer there but they don't have a web site, they just advertise on ebay.
I would have loved one but too pricey for us, having said that check UK campsites for reviews etc and you should get a balanced view.

yes, we have one, what would you like to know?

Mum2Fergus · 26/08/2012 22:14

Ooh Macciemoo, jealous! Was it a good investment for you, do you use it much? Ive all the literature through...just trying to find sometime to get to Camperlands...we're in Scotland. What are your negatives and positives of it?!

Hi, we think it has been a pretty good investment. This is our 3rd summer and we have had main holidays plus a few weekends in it each year so far we got it when our eldest started school and cottage / gite holidays suddenly got a lot more expensive. Reckon its already nearly paid for itself

Postitves - comfy beds and not on the ground so also warmer. tent is proper canvas not flappy nylon, stays cooler in the mornings than our friends normal tents. Quite a bit of storage inside so can transport most of the camping gear in it. Good storage when up too - ours has a wardrobe rail and a big underbed storage compartment plus the kitchen storage. Easy and pretty quick to pitch and no air beds to blow up, if you want to you can leave one of the beds totally made up. Easy to tow, good quality, stable trailer and tent.

As it falls somewhere between a tent and a caravan you can pretend to be either when choosing campsites - ie you can go on hardstanding with no problems, or in the tent field. its easy to manoeuvre when not attached to the car as well, we had to push it to the other side of a field this year - no problems.

Negatives - they are a bit pricey and the accessories are pricey too, also you can only get them from Camperlands in the UK although we did get our sun canopy from a dealer in Holland as we were passing last year. If you have to put it down wet then your bed gets wet (dries pretty quickly with a fan heater though). The actual tent isn't that big so depending on your family situation you may find space a little tight, i wouldn't want to be stuck inside for too long but fortunately we've never had really wet weather. The groundsheet isn't sewn in - this can be a good or a bad thing. Think about where you'll store it - ours is in the garage and all the camping gear is on or on it, but it does take up most of the garage. They can be stored outside but i think they'll last longer under cover.

We have 2 DDs aged 6 and 8, it suits us really well at the moment and the kids absolutely love it. Just been getting it ready for a trip this week actually.
