We've done a trial in the garden but now we're off to an actual campsite and I'm Nervous.

What might I have forgotten?

Your sanity?

Camping with a one year old Grin. You're a braver woman than I...

Ahhh, no it's fab! We've been quite a few times with our 19mo DD since she was about 3mo, most recently last weekend.

Leave all routines at home, forget healthy eating and get down to it - the more relaxed you are the easier it is.

If you have an Asda near by they have a great 'toddler' lilo at the moment. It has sort of 'sides' to it - was a fiver. Our DD loved it and it was great for her (and half the campsites kids) to bounce on off an evening too..

Ohhh and a head torch was handy too.. Asda again.

I think the biggest fear I had was a screaming baby in the middle of then night, there was one at the weekend and whilst some prat was heard to be screaming out 'can't you shut that baby up' - the response from the mother 'You're welcome to come and try'. Ace and I think lots of women were 'secretly' clapping her... nothing is insurmountable and generally campsites are ideal for kids and understanding parents who will understand.

I put dd in her buggy about 8pm and covered her up and pushed her round and then popped her in the tent to then be put in the inner bedroom with us when we went to bed (no point trying to bed a toddler on a noisy light campsite at 7pm I thought - I'd rather sit and relax and let her have fun) it worked a treat

Enjoy!!

trout you missed out Wine, if OP's not breast feeding Wink

Wind breaks may be useful to stop little one disappearing, depending on how mobile they are.

Nervous bump - setting off tomorrow for our first (2 night) weekend camping trip with 15mo DD.

soandsosmum · 09/08/2012 22:19

Thanks!

I've got wipes, still working out what to take beddingwise. Might go via Asda!

Oh, and I'm 5 months pregnant but tbh less worried about that than dd1 not sleeping.

Tucked my baby in a blow up ready bed then covered her in extra sleeping bag unzipped and surrounged by towels in case she rolled out. she still uses ready bed now, aged 5 , so good value (@ Argos)
and
instant hot chocolate
