Hi there - we're off to south west Brittany this Saturday, staying at Camping Kéranterec for one week on a friend's recommendation.

Have not yet booked anywhere for the second week so would love your ideas if you're willing to share. Looking for family-friendly with a pool and a play-area at least.

Many thanks x

We are just back from that area and stayed here at belle vue farm campsite

Not sure what you are looking for but we normally stay at eurocamp type sites in France. This is a complete change from that but I would recommend it to anyone.

It's a family run farm with six pitches in a beautiful setting. We were able to relax straight away because it's so family friendly, plenty of space for the DCs to explore and they immediately met new friends to play with! The couple who run it are so helpful, for example they plotted us out a cycle route so we could explore the canal nearby. They have bikes including a tagalong if you havent brought your own. There are opportunities to feed various animals, collect eggs, milk the goat etc etc and the children loved their pony ride, and there's a swimming pool, boules court, table tennis, sandpit, Wendy house, rope swing etc.

There is EHU, but as added bonus there are also three fridges for campers so we had cold beer. You can order croissants, bread etc the night before and buy eggs from the farm. They also run fab communal BBQ nights on Mondays for anyone that wants to join in.

It was brilliant, can't fault it and I am picky about my camping!

That's a great find dancing! I was looking at a farm stay site in Normandy [will add link to thread shortly] but they are full. I'll email for availability. Fab.

Any more recommendations? Even stop-offs?

Tempted also to start a thread entitled "Tips for tethering a toddler to a pitch"... Have a feeling he'll keep wandering off into the great outdoors.

We stayed at Chateaux Les Eaux a couple of years ago. Had one of the chalets but pitches available too. Brilliant for children.

OP what route are you taking? If you travelling to Roscoff I can recommend Yelloh Village Les Mouettes about 5 miles from the ferry port. A lot of people use it as a stopover but end up staying a few days. Great pool area, lovely views, nearby town of Carantec is very pretty with a small but great selection of restaurants and creperies and the site itself is very clean and fairly quiet.

mandy and English - thanks for those recommendations. I'll take a peek in the morning as it's been a long drive from calais. Not travelling via roscoff but am fancying that north coast and maybe back towards bayeux. Thanks and will let you know how I get on x

Second vote for Belle vue

Dancing when did you arrive?

dancingintherain · 12/08/2012 08:43

Yes its fab at belle vue isn't it. A hidden gem. We're there from 22nd July, what about you, have we met in RL?
DCs have started a concerted campaign to go back next year, along the lines of...they need to check on the cats, swim further in the pool and there are sand excavations they didn't finish so plenty of leverage there!

bronze · 12/08/2012 13:48

I don't know if we've met in real life. I'm a bit embarrassed to admit who I am because I had one of my lowest moments whilst there. Did you watch a lamb being born?

FunnysInLaJardin · 12/08/2012 13:58

we had a great week at Pointe St Gilles near Benodet at the end of July with Eurocamp. Quite a big site but great facilities and very friendly, plus pretty coastline etc.

FunnysInLaJardin · 12/08/2012 13:59

ah just seen your first week is just next door at Foret Fousnant, so maybe you'd want to go further afield that Benodet!
