What camping table can you not do without?

At the min we are using a flimsy home made table & I'd like to get a better one as we use it for cooking on the gas stove & preparing meals. I like the ones with storage underneath but am a bit concerned they will be heavy & dp likes to bring the whole table inside the tent at night/when we are away & get it out when we are back with the tent. So it needs to be liftable.

It doesn't NEED to have storage at all as we pack light, so what table do you use/recommend? :)

I've got lots.

I've you're going to move it in at night, I'd go for something like this from Tesco

I have a couple of those roll up aluminium tables, a fairly flimsy one from Argos and a very sturdy one from gelert. They are both about 8 years old though so not bad value for money.

IloveJudgeJudy · 08/08/2012 12:33

I would second those type of tables, but from Gelert, as MrsPnut says, as we have one from there and one from Argos which is very flimsy, but OK for our purpose, but would not be good enough to cook on.

We have a one like the one linked from Argos. Imho it is shit. Very wobbly so wouldn't be happy cooking on it and wine glasses fall over all the time because of the slats. Which is obviously its biggest downfall :o

We have just bought a furniture set by Vasco that is a big table with net shelf underneath and 4 stools. Looks great.but not used it camping yet so I'll keep you posted! Not too heavy either and we will bring it in and out like you plan to.

Ours is like this with the fold up stools. Like Yellow said
table
Easy to take in and out of tent no problems with it
Also got one of these to put the Cobb on, play UNO, wine/coffee table etc
little table
Could that work if you only need it for cooking and prep rather than eating?
Envy you your ability to pack light, I definitely have too much stuff....

Yes that's our table dancing. Glad to hear its good.

We also have a similar small table this Coleman one that I take when its just me and the boys and could be used for cooking on too.

thanks dyac!

Wow thanks everyone. Found out from dp's mum yesterday that our table is over 40 years old, no wonder its a bit flimsy Grin

Going to click on all the links & thank you all for your replies :)

We have a caravan so have a fair bit of space, but the best table has to be a cheap green garden furniture type made of plastic. You can pull the legs off and will lay flat in the 'van or boot, just make sure you can pick a size that fits. I have even seen one used as a roof rack base. It's solid and sturdy and you can pick one up from about £20. We have coupled that to an ikea high chair - plastic so rainproof and abou £12 I think!
