Hi, am going camping this weekend , just me and the kids and I only have one gas burner. Any ideas for meals would be greatly appreciated, have got the usual tins of beans but we can't eat them for 3 days!

Fish & chips
Pizza (lots deliver to camp sites)
Curry (ditto)
lazy camper
If you are not like me then...
Boil water for fresh pasta (eg fresh ravioili) Drain. Pour in fresh pasta sauce. Put pasta back in. Mix, serve OK still quite lazy
Pasta'n'Sauce - yep - Bachelors freeze dried stuff - on offer in co-op
Pack of ready cooked chicken, pack of stir fry veggies (or chop your own) and stir fry sauce.
If you cook a chilli con carne at home you could reheat at the camp site and serve with tortillas or pittas, sour cream, grated cheese salsa etc. Super messy but yummy.
Definitely take something already "made" to reheat if you can - casserole to serve with crusty roles and butter.

Have fun!

Thank you, have to say I do intend at least one take away but preparing a meal before we go is definitely a good idea, thanks

You could even do 2 - one just chilled to eat on the first night and if you freeze another one it will be OK for the second night as it will defrost overnight IYSWIM - though careful with chicken obviously.

Fajhitas[sp], we make them in one pan using a kit and some extra peppers, tomatoes and a tin of sweetcorn.

If I am really lazy a couple of tins of chicken in white sauce, some packs of uncle bens microwave rice[you can cook it in the pan] and a couple of tins of veg.

Spagbol made at home and frozen, just cook some pasta, put the pasta in a colander while you heat the sauce then put the pasta in the sauce to warm back up for a minute.

If you drive past a supermarket on your way home froma day out, buy a ready cooked chicken and some crusty bread and salad. No pan at all for that oneGrin

here's what's worked for us so far.

one pot pastas.

pasta and pesto but add new potatoes and green beans to make it yummy. quarter the new pots and put them in the pan five min before the pasta goes in. the green beans go in a couple of min after the pasta. pre grate parmasan to save hassle and packing a grater.

roast peppers, tom's, onions and courgette (at home) and blitz in food processor. stir into pasta once you've drained it.

we tried one of the ready meals from here and i was really surprised by how good it was. i hate processed food and reconstituted meat, so am pleased to find ready made suff that is largely free range and not junky reformed shit. we had the thai chicken curry, twas ace, included rice so again, only one pot.
